I have never loved Isabella more than I have now, and this was a really emotional chapter that delves into her real thoughts. Let’s get started!
First we have a page of all the mental and physical hardship the mothers and sisters had to go through, it looks painful just to read and really puts into perspective the fact that they have to put others down just for their own survival. And even so, they can never be free. I’m emotionally hurt just by looking at this page.
Next we get a shot of all the shocked faces when Isabella announces that she was going to betray the farm. It’s really cool seeing the other moms and sisters in Grace Field, their faces were a little similar to when Peter was negotiating with Isabella.
When I saw this panel I audibly said “I love you Isabella” because who doesn’t? This was great and reminds me a lot of Emma back in the first arc of the manga, determined and deciding that nothing will bring them down now. Well, like mother, like daughter I guess!
This chapter had the most of Isabella’s internal monologue and I am very grateful for that. We finally get to hear her real thoughts for once behind that mask of a face. She says that she never stopped loving her children and will do everything in her power to help them when they come back. I want to cry and hug Isabella for all the things she has been through so far.
One of my favorite parts of her monologues this week was the fact that she deeply regrets her actions and thinks all her children must hate her. However, this is not the case. It makes Isabella feel a bit unworthy and maybe even guilty that they are still calling her “mom” even after everything she did, and feels that there is no way to atone for her sins now.
Here she continues talking about that idea, and how she really wants to hug all her children and praise them, but now isn’t the time and it hurts. The panel where she reminisces about the time where they were still little kids who knew nothing was so melancholic and leaves a bittersweet taste.
The following pages have to be my favorites from this week and this arc. This simple drawing of a young Isabella standing beside Emma is so symbolic and powerful and hits you with all the feels at once. If her children still don’t forgive her, then so be it. But she will continue to help them to the end because of love. Isabella doesn’t ask for anything in return and that is a really selfless act if you ask me.

With Isabella and Emma joining forces, Peter is in a real bad situation. My question is how did he manage to escape a bunch of trained and ARMED people and ran away. Oh well, I don’t suppose he can run that far.
I feel like I was repeating myself a lot this week because I kept mentioning Isabella, but the recent chapters all have been really great and emotional.
