The premiere episode of Crusade aired on June 9, 1999. The spin-off took place directly after the events of the Babylon 5: Call to Arms TV movie. Captain Gideon (Gary Cole) assembled a crew and took command of the experimental spacecraft Excalibur in order to search deep space for a cure for the Drakh virus that would consume Earth in five years.
