Back into a Strength phase. Periodizing my workouts so i can peak for competition is a science and an art at the same time. On top of managing injuries and managing work all at the same time. At 42, i train smarter and smarter and smarter, working hard is a given but the scale should be tipped to smarter if it has to tip anywhere at all. Older guys should concern themselves with longevity over anything else. The truth is anything you do to get in shape will work. The question is, is it safe? And Do you enjoy it? While playing sports has inherent risk, lifting weights and doing cardio should have close to zero. Even with a injured neck i can still train. The trick is to have training partners that you can trust not to hurt you. For that to happen you have to be safe yourself and you have to be on the look out and pick them out from the beginners and the crazies 😂. At 42 i take zero chances, once i ID someone as dangerous, it's done, no more sparring with that individual. Accidents and injuries are part of sport so it's vital to mitigate the risk of injuries as much as possible. In regards to getting in shape, make sure you get one that won't make you do dangerous things. You don't need crazy types of workouts to get fit and healthy. Keep it simple, keep it effective, and keep it fun. Thanks @missdemeanour.xox for these photos. I worked for CP rail as did she. She was a conductor and I was a mechanic. I was always told to walk 15 feet in front of a car due to the stretch in the coupling. Also to expect them to move at anytime. Well this guy wasn’t so lucky after all.
