Drinking with friends 🍻🍻
You ever think about Fenris being a butch lesbian with black lipstick?
happy friday! sending "a chest pressed warmly against a back" with johanna/fenris!
Little double drabble for this! For @dadrunkwriting, as always.
Fenris wraps himself around Hawke as she cooks, his arms loosely around her stomach, his chest pressed against her back. Once upon a time, he'd be too scared to do this, to feel the softest bits of himself squish and press onto her back. But now, he relishes the skin-to-skin contact, the way she sighs and turns to look at him with a small smile as the pot sizzles.
"Are you alright?" she asks, the softest she's ever been. A face she only shows him, a small weakness.
He nods and leans into her further, like he could meld his body into hers if he tried hard enough. Her shoulders are broader than his and he is dwarfed by her, just a little, when he leans forward and presses his chin against her shoulder. He kisses the side of her neck and hums.
"Yes," he says. "More than alright, Hawke."
Hawke nods and turns back to the kitchen. She keeps stirring the pot with a wooden spoon as the smell of meat and tomatoes rises up. Fenris could stay like this forever, their bodies joined together, any insecurities forgotten in the simple peace of belonging there, with her, in their home.

─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───
It starts with Fenris receiving a letter.
He reads it, tracing the words with his forefinger, tasting them in his mouth, and then afterwards, he sits down on the floor next to the fireplace and opens a wine bottle. Aggregio Pavali. He drinks a sip and then spits it out. It tastes too familiar, it reminds him of Kirkwall. It reminds him of those nights drinking himself into a stupor and throwing up his acid tasting insides the next morning into a gutter. It was the only way he knew how to deal with the constant pain that came from his markings and past.
Now he wants that same numb feeling that came from drinking the whole night without having to actually taste the same wine he drank with Hawke that one time in Kirkwall, when they talked about his past for the first time. He’s not sure whether he wants to remember tonight. Kirkwall, Hawke, or anything else.
Though thinking about Hawke is inevitable, of course. Fenris is always thinking about him. He misses him and his touch even when he's in the same room – touchable, traceable with his eyes and fingers, with his bitten nails and sharp teeth.
He looks at the old favour Hawke gave him during their first night together. The colour has faded into a duller red, it's frail around the edges – Fenris takes it off only to put it on again. He touches the expensive fabric, rubs it between his thumb and forefinger.

Uhhhh so I forgot that I post fanfic updates here! It's been a while, but I've still been writing. Just struggling to actually, you know, put words down. Hello to those of you who are still here. :) Sooooo FANFIC UPDATE:
No Town More Barren Than Our Town Chapter 44: Waiting
In this chapter, Fenris is struggling with his identity, and Varania is nowhere to be found. Here's a bit:
When Fenris had lived in Minrathous, he hadn't cared much for mirrors-though there were plenty to be found. In the years he'd been on the run, they'd been rare, but still held little interest. And yet now, for some reason, he couldn't pull himself away from the mirror in Hawke's room. He pushed white hair out of his face and back, exposing the dots of lyrium on his forehead. He couldn't stop himself now, each time he passed by, searching for traces of something in his own face. Once, he asked Hawke. “Do I look like a ‘Leto’ to you?” Hawke froze, midway through trying to drag a comb through his hair, “I thought you didn't want to be called that.” “I don't.” Julian took a step back, looking appraisingly. Somewhat accustomed to being evaluated, Fenris turned his head from one side to the other to give him a better look. Julian's grin came on fast and mischievous, “Okay, now a little flex.” Rolling his eyes, but unable to suppress a little huff of laughter, Fenris sarcastically complied. Julian was so handsome when he laughed and something about it felt warm against the winter cold. The kiss was even warmer.
As someone who is not trans and therefore has seen a Lot of trans!Fenris headcanons but lacks the context to grok what's going on there. Could... would you be willing to explain what about whatever's going on with him makes him a proficient Egg Cracking Device? What about him either screams trans or makes folks go "Maybe not THIS gender for me after all."? This is not bait, I promise. I am genuinely just so confused and want to be less confused.
So, before I continue, it's worth saying that I am not a trans man or transmasc. I'm very fast and loose with my gender, the closest label is "agender" but I'm afab and very comfortable presenting feminine. But I don't consider myself a "woman" 100% of the time. I love experimenting with gender and have experienced gender euphoria when people use non-feminine pronouns to refer to me! So keep that all in mind, I invite any and all trans men in the DA fandom to add to this discussion or correct the description below if anything I say is inaccurate or harmful
So! To answer your question:
While not true for all trans men, many trans men, especially younger trans men, are skinner and shorter than the """""average""""" man (put in quotes because there's no such thing as an average man. Just a societal expectation that hurts all men and especially trans men) These are traits Fenris has as well. While strong, he is lanky, and shorter than many of the other men in the series. These are traits lots of trans men relate to and are happy to see on a character.
And, when you think about the fact that Dragon Age 2 came out in 2011, twelve years ago (disgustingly), lots of trans men in the DA fandom were playing this game as teenagers. They see that Fenris looks like them, he's built like them, and he's a man. An undefinable man. And it reminds them that they're men too, it's validating! And if they're still exploring their gender or just starting to, it makes them think "He looks like me. He's a man. Could I be a man?"
It's beautiful! I joke about Fenris "cracking eggs" because it is a little funny, but it's genuinely beautiful. It makes me so happy to see people love a character so deeply and personally love a character in that same way.
Full disclosure: In my personal canon, Fenris is not trans, but I love reading canons where he is! Everyone has such fascinating interpretations of his story when he is trans, how he lived with it, how it affected him, it's all great and I encourage you anon to seek out some of the content yourself! It will definitely help you understand
So that's the jist! Again, I encourage anyone to add to this post, and let me know if I got anything wrong in my answer
Seeing Other People, ch. 3/5
The next entry in the Fenris Rarepair PWP Saga is up. In this entry Fenris dominates somebody for the first time in his life. That somebody is Blackwall, who in canon this fanfiction is a very experienced submissive. 6.8k words.
You can read it here.
The latest development on my Hawke: Anders definitely did Garrett’s top surgery (because this is a fictional, fantasy setting, and I said so), and he always helps reinforce any magical sigils or enchantments Garrett uses. I hc that a combination of sigils/spells/enchantments + potions is more commonly used for hormone therapy, rather than resorting to blood magic (although, no judgment to those characters who do use blood magic responsibly). If a medical practitioner or healer is knowledgeable enough of anatomy, then some surgeries are possible to perform, not without risks of course. Plus, the whole crew eventually takes to gathering ingredients for the potions Garrett uses while they're out on their adventures together, Anders and Fenris specifically, since they actually know how to make the potions. Fenris even gives Garrett some tips from what he learned (and uses) from his days in the Imperium. Knows some additions to make to the magical symbols or an extra ingredient to add into the potions to make them more effective and longer-lasting.
