I share a buncha Lup art cuz it helps me with my own transition. I buck the headcanon of Taako and Lup looking exactly the same though. At birth identical, but as Griffin said, Lup transitioned at a young age, and yeah fantasy whatever but you cant tell me they didn't figure out a magic way to help her like HRT does for me. HRT changes the way you look. They look CLOSE but Kravitz or Barry being confused and mistaking absolutely DOES NOT happen and you cant convince me otherwise. Feels a bit transphobic, implying Lup looks like a man, aka her brother. Probably not intentional but it always makes me a little uneasy. Not an attack, more a personal statement. What i the reason Taako became a transmutation wizard, was to magically do Lup's gender reassignment surgery.

Taako learned transmutation because not only did he wanna be able to make food from nothing, he wanted to help Lup have a proper transition after she gave up on her own transmutation magic.

so like I’m in love with Lup? and one of my favorite things about her in general is the fact that she is a trans woman? a trans woman with a gay, feminine brother? like it just speaks to how absolutely trans she is? because her brother is a man? but is ~feminine~ and if her being trans was just her being feminine and wearing dresses and having long hair she’d probably just be compliant with her gender? but she’s not? because she a woman? She is a true woman? No ifs ands or buts about it. She is a woman because she is? Not because she wants to be ~feminine~ and I think about that a lot and I think that’s a great thing.

With all the amazing hype about Lup being trans (bless you Griffin), I've seen a few people question what Lup's birth name was prior to her transition. The only way I want to ever know that information is through a scene where Lup and Taako grab every offending piece of evidence with her old name on it, any other objects that tied her to her unfortunate birth as a male that makes her uncomfortable, as well as a giant sign with her old name on it and just set it all ablaze. Like the only way I wanna know about the name Lup left behind when she truly became who she was is in a giant bonfire as the twins dance around shouting her true name and setting off magic missiles that spell out her name in giant glittering letters in the night sky. That is all I want out of that scenario.

Have you thought about how being trans would work in a D&D context? Because I sure as hell have.

Here are some ideas that you can allow to float around in your brain box:

Lup is comfortable in her body and it hasn’t been altered in any way

Lup keeps at least one spell slot to cast Disguise Self on herself to look more feminine (lmao looking into that this spell only lasts 1 hour. Unless Griffo uses his mighty DM powers and is lenient about it, that’s going to be a lot of used up spell slots)

She only does the above for important events such as the press conference, otherwise, she’s chill in her given at birth body

Fantasy gender reassignment surgery exists and Lup is post-op

Fantasy gender reassignment surgery exists and Lup is pre-op

Instead of surgery, gender reassignment is a very complicated spell with many components

Fantasy hormones exist and Lup takes them

Lup wishes for something to get her body closer to properly representing her gender but due to various factors (on the road/busy with the IPRE/not enough money) it’s currently not possible.

Plus any combination of these!

I’m curious to see other people’s opinions on this because I think any and all of these points are valid. (Tag meme, which is canon for your Lup)
