Need a fun distraction in my life right now and so I wanna ask the fandom at large a fun question.

What is something super common and simple on Earth that you think would absolutely blow the minds of Cybertronians? Something that would make them go "holy shit thats genius" and/or "this is a complete game-changer"?

Y'know I have a lore/fanon history question.

Where exactly does the idea of Hot Rods for powers come from? Like as far as I recall he doesn't explicitly have anything like pyrokinetic abilities in the G1 cartoon or movie. Yet fan works, including my own, tend to give heat/firebased powers.

Is there a canon source for this or is it just one of those things the fandom collectively decided was cool and just never questioned again?

Cybertronian oil consumption?

One of the things that I actually quite liked about transformers animated was how the bots would drink oil. Now a cursory look over the wiki makes me think this isn't the first time in the franchise cybertronians have been shown drinking it, but animated was my first time seeing the association.

That being said I'm surprised I haven't seen more fan theories and stuff surrounding how cybertronians view this or whether its an accepted part of fanon lore. (or maybe there are fan theories and I just havent seen them lol). Like, is oil seen as like the alien robot equivalent of cheap shitty beer? Is it considered an odd foreign delicacy? Is it BAD for transformers? (due to it not naturally occurring on cybertron) Does taking on earth based alt modes that use oil help with any negative effects? Is it liquified drugs?

I honestly dont know whats better XD

The napkin sketch of Transformers sex

Attempting to develop a framework to graphically represent the many forms of Transformers sex.

I'm not 100% on the labels or this particular order, but the *idea* is to imagine these lines as axes representing spectrum so that a given method of sex can be understood in terms of how much of these various elements it has. And ideally, the position of the labels around the outside of the figure are more related if adjacent and less related if on opposites sides.

It needs work.

Maybe Wires and Gear should be flipped??

Fandom says the three main types are sparks, sticky, and "plug'n'play". But when I'm reading older fics it seems like what defines "sticky" and "plug'n'play" both shifted over time. So, the kind that is just using wires that are not genital analogs is here "wires" which could also physically include "wireplay", maybe, but if the version of robot sex does use genital analogs but it's electromagnetic rather than fluid exchange, then that here falls under "gear".

So, for example, if a scene includes "ports" it's somewhere within the graph away from Fields and Sparks because it is more physical.

And, for example, if your scene includes "valves" that's somewhere along the sticky-squishy-gear side of the figure.

I've been continuing reading old Tranformers fanfics, because I want to understand where some of the Transformers sex tropes and fanon come from.

So, I was reading a certain fic on FF.N from 2004. I'm not sure if I should link because IDK if I want to call out this author from 20 years ago.

But of interest was:

There's an author's note at the beginning that basically says (paraphrasing) "I have read about types of Transformers intimacy, but my friend and I came up with this one." (I love that; good for you author from 20 years ago.)

It's Megastar with an "X made them do it" virus that makes Megatron desire Starscream.

It appears to be G1 type continuity with factions located at their separate bases.

There's the TF tropes of bots literally heating up and their cooling systems being active.

There's a literal button on a bot that when pressed can set them to "input", which Megatron does to Starscream

In the chapter literally titled "Intimacy" Megatron and Starscream have "panels" in their groins. A "connection cable" comes from Megatron's. It goes inside Starscream (who was set to input).

This power-sharing state or connection had among its effects an exchange of emotions and was "more potent...than any human intimacy" and like seeing into their soul (I don't think sparks are mentioned?)

There's some thrusting involved.

"Their energies exploded inside them".

There's almost no fanon vocabulary in this fic. No one has a berth or a washrack. Just "bed". There's no glossas or dermas when bots kiss. No servos or pedes. Just general body parts like necks and torsos and groins.

I feel like this fic captures a moment in Transformers fandom. And I don't necessarily mean like "2004", but the moment of any given Transformers fan trying to work out what gender even means within and without the franchise and coming up with a solution that basically says we aren't constrained by societal norms of the time while simultaneously still struggling to understand whether a desire for union or getting "inside" another must involve penetrative mechanics or not.
