Need a fun distraction in my life right now and so I wanna ask the fandom at large a fun question.

What is something super common and simple on Earth that you think would absolutely blow the minds of Cybertronians? Something that would make them go "holy shit thats genius" and/or "this is a complete game-changer"?

One of my favourite things in the transformers fandom is humanizations of Starscream having a fuckass bob. You know what i'm talking about. It's so silly but also so fitting for his character.

I know that a lot of the fandom shit on "vosian" headcanons as a whole, and I get it honestly. That particular headcanon makes it seem like we just want seekers to be "different" and "special" and "not like the others".

Those criticisms are valid, just like how "starscream being a prince sucks as a backstory" is valid. We shouldn't control how other people headcanon their favourite characters, let them go wild! But the whole "Vosian" culture thing shouldn't be shat on as much as it is.

There is nothing wrong with imagining a whole different culture, a different topography, a different city, a different language!

It opens to a whole can of culture that fans can indulge in.

Some popular headcanons I've seen so far:

Vos has spires to accommodate fliers. Since it's residents are all airborne, it never had the need to pander to grounders.

Vosian language evolved differently due to wing motions. Wingspeak is common and can convey deeper meaning (like how tails on pets can tell you how their feeling)

Trines originate from military tactics, where fliers were most effective in arrangements of three, and that slowly evolved to become the social norm.

None of these, in my opinion, should be considered a stretch as far as headcanons go. When compared to other fandoms, these seem quite reasonable (looking at you "Deku is secretly a undercover villain" from MHA)

The transformers community is made up of all kinds of fans. Haters be damned, our fandom is going strong even after all these years. Don't let a few bad takes ruin your experience. Go ham!

Details on my Last Home continuity under the cut plus here's a sketch of Starscream's initial design

Cybertron was destroyed in the civil war and an ark was built to take the survivors away. Megatron and Optimus were not the leaders of the initial parties who caused the war and destruction of their homeland. They were elected by their people already after the war.

Megatron and Optimus have the same goal in mind, they want nothing more than to secure survival and happiness of their people but they have different approaches to that. They don't exactly hate each other, it's more of a rivalry where one respects the other. They're both quite young in this, unlike in most continuities.

They find Solar system which seems suitable to finally claim as their new home but soon enough Optimus realizes that the system already has its own species, human on Earth to be specific, and to colonize this beautiful planet means dooming all its native species, all humans, fauna and flora, to inevitable demise. Optimus suggests they move on and leave it be, but Megatron is insisting on colonization and it isn't without reason. He highly doubts their ark would be able to withstand another aimless journey that'd last for many vorns. It either dooming cybertronians or dooming a planet full of organic life.

Optimus and Megatron make a deal: Optimus assembles a team of young most capable pathfinders (Arcee, Moonracer and Prowl) to go ahead and try to find them a new home in an X amount of time and if they do not succeed then Optimus will accept Megatron's plan. One of Megatron's conditions was that there should be one or his people in the crew as well, and this someone turned out to be Starscream. Megatron was 100% sure that pathfinders won't find anything and just lose time so he wanted Starscream to sabotage their work so they'd come back faster with nothing on their hands.

When the crew, including Starscream, depart, they find out that a certain someone sneaked on their ship... Now they have to not only seek for a suitable planet but also take care of an ever curious kid Bumblebee.

The plot in my continuity is divided into two sections: the pathfinders and the ark.

While Starscream was supposed to dismantle the Pathfinder plan, he ends up being the reason of the team's success.

You know, I don’t know much about genetics, but one idea I hear often in fanon is that seekers only really have other seekers as sparklings. I know this is more meant to emphasize how special they are, but I find it interesting that if alt modes are inheritable traits, then are some more dominant than others?

Like, taking this headcanon ultra-literally, then that would mean that the traits for seekers, aka a jet alt mode, would be the most dominant gene when it comes to alt modes and so there would be only a small chance of having anything other than a seeker. What other modes would be more or less dominant? What traits could be passed on?

Someone who actually knows genetics and likes transformers worldbuilding should figure out what cybertronian genes could work, because I’m certainly not insane enough to learn genetics for this

have some of my headcanon rambles about transformers sparklings from my notes app!!! i was Thinking at like 6am the other day

as a sparkling grows, they will take on physical characteristics from the mechs surrounding them.

this is how you can end up with an adoptive family in which the child looks like the caretakers (simulating an organic family unit).

however, it is very rare for a sparkling to look identical to one or more of their caretakers -- usually, they will have their own unique frame with only a few shared traits.

this process only occurs during the very early stages of a sparkling's life; if they were originally cared for by one mech, but later by another, they would most likely only retain characteristics of the first and not the second.

culturally, sparklings choose their own names, commonly around the end of sparklinghood (but can take more or less time, depending on sparkling).

it's frowned upon in most places to give a mech a name, rather than allowing them to find their own, even for cold-constructed mechs (CCs).

until they are ready to choose their own, a sparkling will be given a neutral "placeholder name". the placeholder itself varies depending on culture and language, but common ones are diminutive variations of sparkling and it's associated words (i.e. "sparklet", "bit/little bit" "bitlet" etc). CCs are often given number designations as a substitute for this.

some mechs will change their name later in life. this is accepted more in some places than others, as some mechs believe, often for religious reasons, that the first name a sparkling chooses is their "true" or "sacred" name (that their name was placed in their mind by primus or, as ratchet would say, some other sentimental nonsense).

the length of sparklinghood varies wildly between different mechs, usually depending on frame-type. generally, the larger the frame-type, the longer it takes for the sparkling to mature; a minibot might take only a matter of months to mature, while a warframe could take years.

other complications can make a sparkling take longer to mature, such as malnutrition, extended distress, lack of affection/touch, etc etc (essentially, normal baby necessities).

cybertronians are highly social beings; a sparkling will die without receiving affection and touch regularly.

physical touch is the bare minimum, but preferably a sparkling needs to feel the EM fields of their "safe mechs" (i.e. caretakers and other mechs they've been raised around). it can be incredibly distressing for and even stunt development of a sparkling to not be able to feel the EMFs of any of their safe mechs. it can, for one, lead to a sparkling not knowing how to use and control their EMF later in life.

a sparkling's frame/alt mode-type are influenced heavily by their surroundings -- both their environment and their caretaker(s); a sparkling raised in the wilderness is very unlikely to have a supercar alt mode-type, unless their caretaker(s) have supercar alts. a sparkling with multiple mini-bot caretakers is far more likely to be a mini-bot than any larger frame-type.

some mechs choose to undergo a surgery to change their frame/alt mode-type later in life. this was outlawed under the rule of the functionists, as it was seen as "rejecting your function". it is now far more commonplace and accepted, and frame surgeons no longer have to perform their work in secret, nor is it necessary for mechs to keep their 'type change secret -- not that that information is owed to strangers, of course. many mechs still choose to keep their private life private.

anyways these kinds of headcanon are very fun for me to write. i like thinking about hyperfixations, shockingly

When you honestly think about it, a lot of the transformers lore is actually created by the fandom.

For example: seeker trines. Completely a fanon thing that I thought for the longest time was canon.
