I think one thing that really hammers home the prevalence of transmisogyny is the ubiquity of defamation cases when cis women are transvestigated.

and it happens almost exclusively to women (I mean, I could be wrong, but all the cases I'm familiar with are women).

like. the very idea that its "defamation" to think someone could be trans is transphobic. I don't know what I would do if my gender came under intense, hateful public scrutiny like that, but I like to think I'd be brave enough to not crumble and hide behind a defamation case. but that's not an option for trans women: they have to be brave if/when they are targeted.
