i would want a raven cycle tv show to be as accurate as possible to the books, just like all of you, but have you considered: setting it in the 1990s.
gansey’s cellphone is a whole ass UNIT that he has to wear a holster for. noah is an 80s metal head that just kind of went along with whelk (bonus for satanic panic mentions) and then died. blue has protest posters from the cosmo girl protest in her room. the corded phones are staples. ronan’s hate for his phone makes a ton of sense (see: phone holster), and the absolute hatred declan has for his tattoo is totally period appropriate. the hondayota is a period appropriate box. gansey wears horrible dad jeans and worse khakis. adam’s suits are the loose 90s ones and aren’t well tailored to him, which helps visualize his feelings of being smaller than gansey in them.
additionally, a lot of the technology makes more sense then. the wealth gap shown through the possessions of cellphones doesn’t make as much sense now: you can get a cheap phone now, and lay away makes it so it’s about $25 a month for a cell and plan. schools now require access to way more technology than aglionby ever does, and often provide it if they do, but adam never seems to have a laptop. neither does gansey, henry, or ronan, even though they clearly can afford them.
finally, period pieces are really popular right now. hell, i mostly post about stranger things anymore. promise people some 90s nostalgia? get a few famous actors from the time involved? it becomes an incredibly marketable tv show and offers brand partnerships that could sustain the series for four seasons (and a ronan spinoff).
anyway there’s that, folks. hopefully another network picks it up.
