I took a page from the notebook by @cynthiabringle and threw pots on my birthday. Not twenty pound bowls but just a board of tea bowls. Throwing on the wheel has become so part of me that when I recently broke a finger and couldn’t throw pots, I felt off balance. I worked on hand building instead, but if feels good to be working on the wheel again. As of February I told myself to slow down. I am still waiting to feel as though I am, but I have been making all the red clay work off of my #treadlewheel , and where I haven’t noticed a decline in volume or my left leg any larger or more muscular than my right, I have noticed I enjoy the process even more. Perhaps the sound of the wheel or the full body concentration involved or perhaps I realize parts of this wheel are as old as I am and it will still be just as strong long after me. Life may be a long marathon of making work, but #tools and #instruments run longer. It's ALIVE. I spent the day throwing whiskey cups and tumblers on the new 23 year old #treadlewheel. In fact, this treadle and I started working with clay the exact same year.
