hello new oomf. On Headcanons/unpopular opinions, mine is that I hate it when ppl portray Annie like she’s some disarming doe. I know the movies cut out that 4 is a career district, but in tbosas coral and mizzen were very competent and strong fighters, Lucy gray would’ve definitely gotten killed by them if she didn’t have luck on her side. I think Annie was a full on terror sport in that arena but she was still a child like 17/18, anyone would’ve been traumatized by seeing a district partner (specifically one they were close to) get beheaded.

Coral and Mizzen were absolutely formidable and they had the power of rage, terror, and probably at that point years of manual labor on their side. that was it. by the time Annie shows up, she and most of the other tributes coming out of Four have had years of training. she might not brute force everything like Coral does, but she’s going to be even stronger and most likely more calculating. part of what makes her story compelling is that despite all that preparation, she’s still traumatized! of course she is, because nothing in the world can prepare you for the reality of the Games and how horrible they are, and seeing someone beheaded, especially her district partner, is going to affect her. she could’ve been the toughest tribute in the arena up until that point but the trauma of that is going to surpass everything else, and that doesn’t mean that she’s weak…or that she went in untrained and unprepared…it just means she experienced a traumatic event.
