In addition to vaccines,Flea, tick and heartworm prevention are very important as well. Trifexis is an option to knock out all three. Nexguard kills fleas and ticks. Heart guard prevents heartworms. This is very important as your dog or cat can contract Lyme from a Bloodborne pathogen such as fleas and ticks. Symptoms of Lyme include fever, lethargy and loss of appetite. Heartworm disease can cause severe lung disease, heart failure, other organ damage which can be transmitted by mosquitos.

Should You Let Strangers Pet Your Dog?
You are at the park with your adorable golden retriever. Not surprisingly, people want to rush over and hug your beauty, bringing their own dog with them. Since you are a dog lover, you may think, “Why not?” Instead of welcoming the attention, you need to be cautious. Stranger danger is a problem for people and for dogs. Not every person with a dog is safe, and not every pet is friendly or…

“You know, the one that does the flea and heart bug.”
Would someone with an Aussie or other dog affected by MRD1 mind messaging me?
I thought I had my dewormer/heartworm preventative for my future Border Collie or Aussie figured out, but I’ve been hearing things about Trifexis causing dog injury and death? Snopes is undetermined on if its true, and reading reviews of Trifexis online, most people don’t report any of the symptoms like the people whose dogs were affected have.
Or if there’s a better one, please let me know! I was looking for a dewormer/heartworm preventative that didn’t have ivermectin in it so it’d be safer for an Aussie/BC. Any help would be appreciated.
Guys... I was debating whether or not to write this, specially after I was in denial myself. But I know many of you have dogs as well. On Saturday, Lulu had a seizure. Now this isn't the first time it has happened, however, it has never been as bad as her last one, which ended up is rushing her into an emergency vet at 11pm. I've been giving my dog Trifexis for the last couple of years, and during that period is when she's had those seizures, but for some reason, and even with reading all the articles about the deaths Trifexis has supposedly caused, I still waved it as some other health issue. Even her vet discarded Trifexis as the cause of her seizure, she just said that it might've been her age, and well... So did I. That is until last Saturday. The vet that treated Lulu immediately asked me if I had her in any heart worm prevention, and I of course replied Trifexis. She then explained that Trifexis is proven to cause seizures in dogs, and of course, she asked me if Lulu's vet had explained that to me before, which she didn't, because I specifically took Lulu to the vet to get her on Trifexis. At the time we were dealing with a serious flea problem, so we were desperate for a solution of course, and Trifexis just sounded, and worked like a charm, making all of our flea problems disappear before our eyes. But now that she's been through 3 seizures, I'm fully convinced that they were linked to Trifexis. And I just feel awful because I wanted to put her under that medication, and regardless about all the horrible things I had read about the drug, I still chose to keep giving it to her. Even after her 2nd seizure it just never crossed my mind. She has never had seizures before being on that pill, and guys! Seeing your dog have a seizure is fucking horrific! They seem so helpless on so do we! I am not blaming myself entirely, because her vet never ever mentioned seizures as side effects, not even after mentioning the seizures she's had. I am writing this because I just felt like other people need to know how serious the situation is, and I know that many of you have fur babies! I don't wish any of what I've been through to anybody! And plus! The doggies don't deserve this! It's not worth it! Lulu is okay, she's recovering, and we're monitoring her all we can to make sure she doesn't have anymore seizures, but we are definitely taking her off Trifexis from now on, because you just never know!
First Dose
Well, Jasper just got his first dose of Trifexis. I was, and am, kinda worried about it, as I’ve heard some not so good things about it. And I’m not to keen on all the chemicals, but so far they have been no side effects, so we might be in the clear.
