I’ve been on NetGalley for a minute now and like I’ve gotten some bangers like Canto Contigo by Jonny Garza Villa. Like I can NOT get enough for that book. But like I’ve also read books that are not IT for me. I would never write a bad review especially if it’s like one of the first reviews, but sometimes I’m just like I will list facts about the book and hope those are positives for somebody

A couple days ago these 2 elderly men were in my checkout line and the first guy is digging for change and he says "im not in a hurry, im retired" and im just thinking well im timed so you better get your shit together.
Then he proceeds to joke about how nice it is to be able to take your time and stuff with the other old guy and this lady behind them goes "well im not retired and you're pissing off the cashier"

I like stories where a normal human child is being raised by a sinister supernatural being who is totally malevolent except when it comes to their kid. Those are so much better than the “kids are scary” changeling type horror movies.

My grandmother was harassing me about the dangers of online dating, and my grandpa was like, “Oh fer crying out loud, leave her alone. My parents met online, she’ll be fine.” Apparenly my great grandparents were both telegraph operators who would chat over the line in between messages and fell in love and my great grandma moved halfway across the country to marry a dude she met over the telegraph.

This is a huge thing ESPECIALLY with kids. To the parent, they lashed out when they were mad and forgot about it, expecting the kid to forget too. To the kid? It was a big moment that defined your relationship with your parents. Stuff my parents don’t remember doing or saying were things that to me spoke very, very loudly, that I was not safe to be open and honest with my parents.
