Thanks to @apothecary_garden, we finally know exactly what these berries are. Triphasia trifolia also called limeberry, lime berry, "sweet lime" or limoncitong kastila. It is grown for its edible fruit, and has been widely introduced to other subtropical to tropical regions of the world. I’ve only come across a handful of these growing in the wild. The fruit flesh is pulpy, with a flavor reminiscent of a slightly sweet lime.
