Since Thanksgiving is around the corner, and I was too busy to do anything for Halloween, I thought I’d share some troll headcanons surrounding the harvest season! They're not the most planned out, but please enjoy, and let me know your ideas!
Pop Harvest Festival: It kicks off when the last of the trolls had gathered their harvests/foraging items, and the community works together to start storing everything. Even a grey Branch, who usually avoids holidays, lends a hand in this and helped them build a fully expanded granary. The royal family insures it’s filled to the brim with enough food and the royal family ensures there’s enough for everyone the coming winter, and once they confirm it, the first event is a large festival with different booths of extra food the farmers/foragers were able to collect. The second day is Friends giving, where the pop trolls use some of the more unique food they have to play games with each other. Overall, different events have been sprinkled around throughout the months, celebrating when a certain food was no longer being collected, when the leaves changed color, scary parties, etc. These two holidays in specific are meant to bring the community together to work on making sure everyone gets fed, and congratulating themselves afterward.
Techno Final Rave Festival: The majority of techno trolls are nomadic and travel across the sea, but they also usually hibernate around winter time, and different groups come together to sleep around this time. There’s a specific reef they go to that can store their own traveling reefs, and has access to plenty of plants and animals to eat on, but the two groups also usually bring items from their travels as well. They meet up, catch up, and have their final raves before hunkering down to sleep. The royal family members are usually close by to the entrances/exits, and are the first to wake up, whether because of the end of hibernation or a potential threat.
Funk Holiday Season: Funk don’t really have harvest seasons anymore simply due to the fact their spaceship can grow food all year round. Some funk subgenres below still practice it, but overall, it’s usually just using way back traditions as an excuse to take the day off and be with your family for a feast with traditional food. It’s used to kick-start their official holiday season.
Classical All Hallow’s Eve: Classical, similar to Pop, also have harvest seasons, but the process of harvesting and storing is usually for the lower to middle classes while the upper to middle classes buy food from them. The leader's job is to ensure rules are being followed and that both sides are being treated fairly in the market and that the economy is healthy. There are still a couple of events, mainly focused around different concerts, and as usual, a feast by the end of the season for everyone.
Rock Festival Season: Rock is a blend of both Funk, and Classical. There is farm land in some areas of the territory, and the rock royal family is responsible for ensuring that these farms are running smoothly, that the workers are being paid a fair wage, and that nothing is threatening the supply of food. This also results in animals that threaten the farms to being hunted as well. Goods and services are passed along, and everything eventually gets to the city. There are harvest festivals for the Rock Trolls living in the farming lands, but the ones in the cities and suburbs just use it as an excuse to throw a feast and a rager.
