How would the Partner Squad react if Y/N lost their colors? (P.S. I love your blog ♡♡♡)
[this was sent before the announcement so i hope u dont mind that i used it as practice and made a scenario with it aaaaaadgahjsdg]
All of them would be distraught.
Everything seemed to be perfectly fine that day until Y/N showed up, their colors dulled down to a gray pallet and with a mix of agitation and sorrow in their features.
Any other time, Branch would’ve been the first one to all but sprint at the slightest sign of danger or distress for Y/N.
But this time he couldn’t. He was completely paralyzed at the sight of them. He couldn’t move. He couldn’t breath. He couldn’t blink. He wanted to scream.
He perfectly knew how it felt like and most importantly what losing one’s colors meant, so seeing someone so close to him like this made his gut almost painfully twist with dread and his head get filled by a million questions.
When did this happen? Why was Y/N like this? Had something happened? How would they get their beautiful colors back? What if it’s so bad that they can’t get them back like he did-
He is pulled out of his panic by Poppy’s worried cries for Y/N.
She rushes to Y/N and clasps one of her hands with theirs, the other going to cup their gray cheek.
Her mouth opened and closed but nothing came out. Poppy was at a complete loss of words and a deep sense of helplessness settled in her chest.
She felt like asking a thousand questions but she knew that right now that wouldn’t do any good at all.
Y/N notices the tears forming at the corners of the usually cheerful eyes of the queen of Pop and a choked up sob leaves their lips, pulling the pink troll in an almost desperate hug.
Poppy reciprocates the hug and lets her own waterworks fall down.
Immediately Trollex joins the embrace, tears already running down his cheeks.
Through cloudy eyes he can see the grey of Y/N’s arms and he shuts his eyes, not bearing to look anymore.
He remembers the first years after his parents died and how utterly miserable he felt as he saw the color slowly drain away from his body.
That was a long time ago and Trollex had eventually got them back thanks to the support of his siblings and subjects, so he feels a small sense of peace knowing that Y/N wouldn’t be alone either.
It’s small but it is there.
Trollex knew none of them would ever give up on Y/N
Feeling his knees weak and slightly wobbling in place, Tresillo forces himself to stand upright before he could crumble down.
The reggaeton troll had never seen a gray troll before.
He had certainly heard the mentions of trolls that felt so sad that they lost their colors, but he always accounted the tales to simply be rumours. Simple superstitions to keep other trolls from feeling down.
Of course, after getting to know Branch he learnt that the legends were very much real.
And yet, all the descriptions he had heard about colorless trolls didn’t do justice to the sight of drained tones in Y/N’s usually vibrant hair and skin.
Tresillo wished with all his heart and soul that those stories had stayed like that. Just stories.
Barb’s heart thundered so hard in her chest she could swear everyone else could hear it. Her hands curled up into shaky fists and back again. Clench, unclench. Clench, unclench-
This couldn’t be happening. It couldn’t. This had to be a dream. No, not a dream. A nightmare. And a bad one at that.
She felt the tips of her claws lightly stinging her palms and realized that she had stopped breathing for a few moments after taking in a trembling breath.
Barb felt her hands shake at her sides as she quickly approached the three hugging trolls.
How badly did the queen of Hard Rock want to kick a wall, roar and demand Y/N to tell her what or who had caused this so she could... deal with the source of those faded colors, but she couldn’t. She just couldn’t.
Barb held Y/N’s puffy gaze for mere seconds before she latched herself to the hug and let upset tears stream down her face.
The sight of the four trolls sliding down to the floor, without letting go of each other as weak sobs made their shoulders tremble, made Hickory shake off out of his own troubled stupor.
He had always taken pride in being calm and collected under dire situations.
But the moment he saw Y/N with all their colors faded away, the air in his lungs had both figuratively and literally been knocked away and left him the worst kind of speechless with an uncharacteristic blank look in his face.
He feels so distressed but he knows he has to keep his cool, if not only for his own sake, for the others’ and right now specially for Y/N.
He has to close his eyes for a bit and steady his breathing before letting his natural protective instincts kick in.
Hickory sighs and gently pats Branch’s shoulder with one hand and Tresillo’s with the other. The three briefly exchange gazes before they wordlessly nod and approach the rest.
“Up you go, sugars. Easy does it.” Softly drawls Hickory as he, Branch and Tresillo tenderly help the huddled trolls up.
After helping wiping their teary faces as best as they could, everyone pauses and settles into a second group hug with Y/N right in the middle. This one with less crying but a few sniffles can be still heard from everyone.
They all go somewhere where Y/N can properly take their time to fully calm down and explain how they lost their colors.
All of them will attentively and patiently listen to every word and promise to do their very best to help them get their colors back, no matter how long that takes.
And if Y/N is never able to fully get them back? Doesn’t matter, they won’t ever leave their side and keep them as happy as possible. No exceptions.
They will always be there in their ups in their downs, now more than ever.
