People are saying that Miller’s The Song Of Achilles made Patroclus looked weak.
But like, am I the only one who doesn’t think so?
Because like, this book and everything we read from it was from Patroclus’s pov, and maybe, just maybe, the reason why in the book why we only saw how strong and bright and beautiful Achilles was, was because that’s what Patroclus saw? He didn’t see himself as strong, he didn’t see himself as beautiful or anything powerful, that’s why us readers think that he was described as weak in the book, because that’s what Patroclus thinks of himself.
To think that everything in the book was written from Pat’s pov would make a lot of senses, why Achilles was also described as beautiful and there was rarely any description of Patroclus.
That’s why every time I saw posts or comments saying that Patroclus was weakened in words by Miller in the book, I just can’t agree on. It’s not like she skipped the part where he killed when he was a child, where he saved the soldiers that were wounded in the war, or where he killed Troy soldiers by himself and could only be stopped after Apollo himself had to pushed him down the wall for MULTIPLE times. I’ve only ever read tsoa, and I don’t see Patroclus as anything near weak at all, I even think he’s the same level as Achilles.
