Things That You Say - Jon McLaughlin
I was watching the second part of Oprah's interview with James Frey yesterday. I always watch Oprah and I'm going to miss her when that show is over. I won't know what I'm going to do when they stop airing Oprah. I think it's a blow to society. She spoke about real issues happening all over the world and then there was the occasional finding the right bra shows that brought the right balance. No one can do that like Oprah can. Just sayin... back to James Frey, I remember seeing him on Oprah when his book was part of the book club. Ever since it broke out that the whole book was a lie, and he got dissed on Oprah, I always wondered what happened to him (along with Lyanla). I've always wanted to read "A Million Little Pieces" but I keep forgetting and also I've been hesitant because I read Gary Zukav's "The Seat Of The Soul" when she recommended it and I thought it was a maze of a book. It was a beautiful analogy but...I don't know something seemed off. I liked it though...I don't even know how to explain it. I read it so long ago that I know it was beautiful but, kind of off on a mystical type of something. I don't even know how he explained it on the show. It's one of those things that you'll look back on it and you'll feel like you were just believing any old thing back then huh!? HAHA. Self help or self realization books were a lot more popular in those days.
Anyway... after hearing James Frey explain that he was trying to create art and he wanted to help people with his writing I understood his view. He also said that was the only way they would publish his book, if he said it was a memoir. He said it took so much time for him to write something like that and it was like a waste of his life if he didn't have it published. He didn't do it the right way but he figured he got it done.
I'm not going to lie I was just as upset as Oprah was. I think her anger came from hurt more than ego. I know when I was lied to (by wicked human beings) I was mostly hurt because I trusted the person. Oprah said it was an attack on her ego, I think she over analyzed it. People are afraid to admit when they are hurt...like its a weakness or they are being a victim.
Which gets me to another point...the whole twisted "being a victim" thing everybody throws around. "Stop being a victim" was a highly shouted out phrase when I was a teenager and girls got into brawls.
I have no idea how someone can stop being a victim and since when was crime dismissed. In actual life people get hurt and lied to in the most horrible ways. People can stop being a victim when people stop being victimized. Are these thoughts and social phrases making us immune to empathy? Or are they creating an excuse for humans who have a dismissive nature?
Again like I always say words are important. Every society has a language trend and it can either be negative or positive. My favorite book in the bible is the book of James. It mentions the importance of words and the things you speak. It's nice and short and to the point.
Oh so yeah, James Frey's newest book is called " The Final Testament Of The Holy Bible". He has big bolas writing that book. The book of Revelations clearly points out that anyone who adds to the bible is basically screwed. He already is seen as a fiction writer so I guess it's art. It's bad, but I want to read it... even though it could be straight up illuminati type crap like the Da Vinci Code. Anyway, it came out on Good Friday so he's trying to piss off Christians. Nothing new, it's the easy thing to do these days, next to lying.
So yeah I was playing this song a lot these past few days and I was thinking crap like usual. Being lied to sucks and playing pretend is wack if you're not in a real relationship. Being honest and truthful feels best when you're living it and giving it and allowing the people in your life to do the same (Love as a verb ♥). So I guess the lesson learned is, if you're writing the story of your life, make sure it's the true story. So far it's what I've been doing and it has helped to take a load off my back. Although I have my moments when I'm thinking and having flashbacks and I feel angry and go into anguish. For example on Monday night I was really upset and in anguish. I was just really thinking in my mind like, screw this person and I would tell them off. I realized I'm still hurt and it will probably not go away till I find love again with someone who will not do me like that. I'm sure when the real thing shows up I won't forget, but I'll be healed. I have no use for a rebound when I'm in need of real love. I've heard people just know when it shows up. I believe that.
I know I wrote about everything and my mother but...it's the truth.
You know how they say drink responsibly? They should also say speak/think responsibly.
Say the truth ya'll is all I'm saying.
