Hi! So I'm attempting to write a story that goes between multiple characters in a first person POV through chapters. I'm also attempting to personalize the narration of each character. One Character, the antagonist, gets a chapter and i want to make them seem arrogant while avoiding self reference (I/me) as much as possible. However, this gives the POV an Omniscient 3rd feel and i want to know if that could be used or if i should find different tactics to show the character's perspective?
Hey @gay-potato-chip :)
This sounds amazing, definitely give it a try! I don’t think it would be too much to have your antagonist have a self disassociating aloof voice. Sure the antagonistic chapter might sound more like a narrator, but that’s okay, it will set it apart from the others. I think this could be a very useful and interesting writing tool. Go for it!
You could try other tactics if you like. Test them out and see which one brings your character to life… but don’t dismiss your antagonist’s voice simply because it’s different to the rest of the book.
This has so much potential! Just keep doing what your doing and play around, push boundaries, have fun! You got this.
Pretty sure, I’m feeling these
