Day 2261, 31 August 2024
Tryweryn River (Afor Tryweryn) at Bala, Gwynedd, Wales
I had taken part in the Pont Y Bala Parkrun this morning which follows this beautiful river along the path on the right hand side of the photograph
A Tory Senedd candidate has deleted a tweet praising the “natural beauty” of Tryweryn lake. Charlie Evans, who is standing in Dwyfor Meirion
What the actual fuck is wrong with these people
Yes it’s legit been decades since I’ve posted on here and yes, I’m making a comeback with country humans sUe mE
In 1965 the Capel Celyn a small town in the Tryweryn Valley was flooded to create a reservoir to service Liverpool and the Wirral council. The council obtained an act of parliament meaning they didn’t need planning permission from the local Welsh authorities

Never forget that a Welsh village was flooded to create a reservoir for English people.
Never forget people were displaced and forced to relocate for English people.
Never forget that Liverpool didn’t actually need water. Companies just wanted to sell it for profit.
Never forget Tryweryn.
Parts of the 'Cofiwch Dryweryn' wall have been turned to rubble in the attack.
In a disgusting act of vandalism the mural Cofiwch Dryweryn, Welsh for Remember Tryweryn, has been damaged.
The mural was for memory of the Welsh village that was flooded due to damming to create a reservoir for Liverpool.
The damage to the wall is indeed most sickening.
Cofiwch Dryweryn
On the left a memorial to the drowned village Tryweryn. The words say “Remember Tryweryn” are in Welsh painted onto the remains of the wall. A piece of Welsh history to commemorate the drowning of Capel Celyn and the homes of all of the residents in order to make a reservoir for Liverpool.
On the right is that same sign today, the word “Elvis” painted over the famous mural. This vandalism has sparked nationwide outrage as many believe it to be a way to try and make us forget our history. Cofiwch Tryweryn, 2019.
