Mini Tut: Creating Non-Hat Hairs
Hi yo! Long time no see huh?
@elvisgrace asked how I make my non-hat states for hat hairs, so here's a quick little run down on how to make them.
Notes: This will not explain meshing, as there are plenty of tutorials already out there, so this will only cover the simPE logistics.
First thing you'll need is two separate meshes - one that is a full hair that goes "under" the hat, and one with the hat already attached to the hair.
I tend to separate the two sets of meshes into different folders for easier finding - in this case, the hair is this one here.
For a base package, I suggest either the bucket hats (if it's only for teens-elders) or the propeller if you want to add kids as well.
Once you have a base package, open it up in simPE and click on "Instance" to re-organize the groups, so you know which reference to use for each age group. This part will be a bit tedious, because there will be a lot of IDs to replace.
Click on the "3D ID Referencing File", then click "Tools => PJSE => Body Mesh Tool => Linking Stage"
This message will pop up - just click "Ok" and find the mesh for the age group you're planning to replace. Another pop up will appear - just click ok and move on to the next 3IDR, then save your progress.
Depending on how you named your hair groups, you may have to go into the property sets and change some things, especially if you used the propeller hat as a base. Just click on the property set and below, click on "overrideNsubset = ..." and change the name to match your mesh groups. Click "Commit" then save and done.
Drop your edited files into your downloads folder and fire up bodyshop to edit, retexture and what not.
If anything is unclear, don't be afraid to drop me a line and I'll try to get back to you as soon as possible ^^ Hope this helps!
