Ok so small tangent incoming because I need to explain how I view their situation

So ok, in Sonic eggs, knuckles is worried about the extinction of his species cuz yk he’s the last one and gets super excited when he meets Tikal and then when he hears about his future wife immediately rushes to rouge, so he’s clearly desperate for a partner. Plus when reading authors notes for Sonic eggs it was mentioned how knuckles does want a relationship but is a bit naive when it comes to girls, right okay and this is KEY to how I see these guys as a pair (not healthy very doomed)

So I feel as both added pressure from being the last of the echidnas alive and also naivety with relationships, effects how he responds to shades

Cuz hey he had a bit of a crush on shades in drag and he clearly enjoyed socializing with him even if it was like for 2 seconds ok this comic only has 4 issues leave me alone anyways

But with that pressure he obviously wants to find specifically a girl however when he feels for shades he’s definitely yo wtf, and I think as he identifies that yes he has a crush, he chalks it up to him only being into shades if shades was a girl right ok, and shades is also naive so you can see how this sucks, I don’t think knuckles is like pushy but I also don’t think enjoys remembering that shades Is a guy so for example maybe he just keeps his eyes closed when doing anything romantic

Also the hosts for the comic of Sonic eggs had this to say so 😭 hopefully they never find out about me!!! Erm… GULP!!!!
