Do You Want to Lose Your Face, Kid?

DELTARUNE WAS SO GOOD WHEN I PLAYED IT LAST WEEK!

As soon as I saw Susie in the game, I knew I had to draw her! (And that’s not the only reason, since I love reptilian characters!) Granted, I’m not a big fan of bully characters. But,... Susie was different. She changed for the better. I hope she makes another appearance in Chapter 2!

But yeah, I think I did a really good job on my interpretation of her. I haven’t really seen much art of her in her civilian clothes. This picture wasn’t easy. I actually started a bit cold-turkey, since it’s been, what, a year since the last time I drew a big traditional pencil sketch like this? (But I have made a few strides in pixel art) In my interpretation, the jacket she wears is made of denim. (Sorry, I love drawing stitches on clothes!)

Sorry, all you Ralsei fans, I do like Ralsei, and he is cute, but he seems overdone at this point.

Crawlin’

Yeah, we’ve barely seen Vector crawling like a real crocodile. (I think there was one time he did in the Archie Sonic Comics, though.) You gotta wonder if those shoes are waterproof.

HEAL...

I loved the 25th issue arc for Sonic Universe in 2011, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Jani-Ca’s Enerjak outfit! I also figured that this version of Mobius was pretty much completely dead, and that it needed SOME life-force from the life cores of the moribund characters to rebuild it, at least partially.

There’s something about how Jani-Jak acted that warmed my heart. Like, how could you not like a benevolent reality-warping demi-goddess with such a joyous child-like smile like that? Like, you knew she was still “normal” in a sense.

Seriously, this is really good characterization, despite the fact that we only see it for a short time. But I digress. I loved her overall appearance in the issue so much that I wanted to draw her immediately after I read the comic.

Plus, I had a bit of fun with some of the costume interpretation. Look at the white forearm and foreleg accents in my picture. I added some pearlescent effects to signify that Jani-Jak was using her powers.

25 Years ago... (Father’s Day Present)

My dad was the one who introduced me to Myst around 1993-1994. I immediately fell in love with it. I’ll never forget the time we made it through the entire game, only to make the wrong decision at the end. (Which we thought was the real correct decision.) I can remember laughing and spouting off insults at Sirrus as he tore out the pages of the red book with us trapped inside. XD

Daft Punk: Musique Vol. 1

(BLOOD WARNING)

I put this together in 2009 for my first Digital Design class. I feel it didn’t get the exposure it deserved, but it seemed to help me with graduating in 2014, as this was one of my final portfolio examples which was kept in the assignment for grading!

Ever since 2000, I’ve loved Europe’s style of Techno/Electronica music, especially Eiffel 65 and Daft Punk. As homage to some of Daft Punk’s gritty music and artistic video style, I put together this Terminator-style photo-manipulation using some old computer parts I had at the time. Before I edited this for my final portfolio, the “Terminator-style scene” didn’t quite live up to expectation, as it seemed too clean and the colors were all off.

An oldie, but a goodie. I made this for @stephuwu back in 2010, when I first got my set of Prismacolor markers.

I’m surprised her character, Hamstar, didn’t appear more with this outfit, because it somehow fits really nicely.

In Memoriam

10 Years Ago, on June 11th, 2008, I lost my grandmother to complications from a heart attack. It was a very rough time for me then, and it’s still a very rough time for me now. I made this in 2008 almost immediately after I got the news.

My very first Myst “journal”, if you will, when I was 6 1/2 years old. Even after I had played through the game quite a few times over the previous 3 years at the time, Myst was still fresh in my mind. I loved exploring the island and the ages. Little did I know that I was going to be flung into another enormous adventure later that year...

The idea that the Green D’ni Book didn’t have a green page to go along with it didn’t make sense, so I made one. XD

Even at this age, I seemed to have an eye for detail, since I drew in the constellations from the planetarium correctly...

...and also added the rotational support for the Sunken Gear.

The lines added to the letters were my best attempt at imitating the serifs found on any of the “MYST” or “Myst-like” text found in the game.
