Dream Season 3 Episode Line Up

It has 10 episodes instead of 8 which is probably unlikely but that’s why I said DREAM Line Up. But also idk how they’re fitting it into 8 episodes cause I struggled with 10 😅

Episode 1: My Rescue Operation Goes Very Wrong

Little opening VO monologue from Percy, we see Percy with Annabeth and Thalia at his home getting ready to go to Westover. There’s tension between Percy and Thalia. Annabeth is either oblivious to it or pretending it doesn’t exist. Possibly, Percy is aware of Paul at this point and Sally uses his car again? They go to Westover, meet up with Grover, and encounter Dr. Thorn. Thalia uses the Mist — Percy is jealous. Okay, we’re in! We see the di Angelos. Dance time! Etc etc, y’all have read the books and seen the teaser. We continue on through the events and the episode ends with “I am Artemis. Goddess of the Hunt.”

Side note for this episode: as much as I love the visual idea of the camera panning to Annabeth’s hat in the snow, the hat is with Luke still. Unless Rick does a Rick and forgets to hire a continuity editor. Either way, for the purpose of this line up, I’m working under the assumption that the hat got left at the end of season 2.

Episode 2: Thalia Torches New England

This will be a slower episode and mostly one to demonstrate the tension between Percy and Thalia. There’s also room for Thalia to be upset with Zoe framing the Hunters and Camp as the only option since she is begrudgingly at Camp for Annabeth and both options means serving the gods. Bianca joins the Hunters and Apollo comes to give them a ride to Camp. Cut to black upon impact. Percy is now in his cabin. He places the IM to Sally and then meets up with Chiron and Mr. D. He asks about Clarisse who is noticeably absent. Before he can get a response we have the iconic Nico fanboying over Mr. D lines. We then end the episode with Chiron explaining that Clarisse “is on an assignment for Camp”. Here is where we can cut to Clarisse inspecting some random place and the camera zooms in to focus on the symbol of Daedalus to end the episode.

Episode 3: An Old Dead Friend Comes to Visit

The main event of this episode is Capture the Flag of course. Thats going to take up the bulk of the episode. However, possibly making room for Clarisse and Chris, I would begin this episode with Percy having a demigod dream that follows Chris and Allison in the Labyrinth. Percy would not know it’s the Labyrinth, but book readers will understand the implication. Percy wakes up, Camp is preparing for Capture the Flag. Percy and Thalia are, of course, at odds. Possibly Thalia refuses to partake in the game, but still criticizes how Percy leads the campers against the Hunters. Episode ends with Zoe’s prophecy which is given by Heracles (in keeping with the theme of seeing the person you hate give you the prophecy) whom only she and Chiron recognize.

Episode 4: I Make A Dangerous Promise

Here we have the counselor meeting to discuss the prophecy. Zoe decides to bring Bianca and Phoebe. Thalia volunteers as a camper. Zoe: “I thought you weren’t part of this camp.” Oooooh! Grover and Percy voice their desire to go. Zoe picks Grover over Percy. There is a cinematic emphasis on Riptide. The audience knows there is a reason Zoe did not pick Percy and it is because of that sword. A dejected Percy returns to his cabin and goes to bed. He has his first dream about Zoe and Heracles. It shifts into Luke tricking Annabeth into holding up the sky (oh sweet parallels with powerful men taking advantage of women who are better than them). He wakes to Blackjack, frees Bessie, and returns in time to stop Nico from sneaking off after the quest group. Possibly Mr. D catches him here and gives the abbreviated speech about heroes. He lets Percy go, but it’s ominous. Right before the episode ends, we see Clarisse inspecting for a Labyrinth entrance. Suddenly Chris appears. His eyes are unfocused. He’s alone. “Chris?” And we end here.

Episode 5: I Learn How to Grow Zombies

This is the Smithsonian episode. It’s largely unchanged from the books, but Percy does not have Annabeth’s hat. This is an optional spot for him to retrieve it, but there is a later spot I think works better. I think this is where we see Bianca use her Hades powers to defeat a skeleton and we skip New Mexico. They flee from the museum and hitch a ride on the train courtesy of a disguised Apollo. (I think it’s important to keep these kinds of godly interactions because Thalia needs a reason to join the Hunters and I believe knowing there are some gods that will defy her father is an important part of that.) Luke meets Allison who informs him that Chris was lost.

Episode 6: We Visit the Junkyard of the Gods

Two parts of this episode. First part is the train discussions. In no particular order: Percy and Thalia. Percy and Grover. Percy and Zoe. Thalia and Zoe — this one will be especially relevant later as they talk about why Zoe joined the Hunters. She definitely tells Thalia everything, but at the moment, we are only privy to Zoe explaining that she joined because a powerful man promised her lies and used her, and she refused to let it happen again. At one point there is a sign indicating we are in New Mexico and Grover will sit upright. “Nothing. I just… For a minute, I thought I felt him. Pan.” Second part: Percy has his second dream of Zoe and Heracles. Aphrodite and Ares warn them about the junkyard. And you know what happens next. “One shall be lost in the land without rain.” I really love the line “Here we were in the desert. And Bianca di Angelo was gone.” It’s like a sucker punch, but I don’t know that I want it to be a VO. In some way, there has to be an emphasis on the fact that they are in the desert. And they all realize it, just too late.

Episode 7: I Have A Dam Problem

I would love to see a Hunters version of a funeral for Bianca to open the episode. This would be a good moment to world build something we haven’t seen before. Hoover Dam stays the same except we aren’t doing evil Santa later, so the group learns about Bessie and we have that showdown here. Percy sacrifices the lion pelt and Grover takes Bessie away. Percy begs Thalia to call on Zeus for the statues help or “we won’t make it on time!” to save Annabeth. Thalia tries but she can’t get the words out. Blackjack saves the day with Guido and Porkpie.

Episode 8: We Meet the Dragon of Eternal Bad Breath

Thalia takes the opportunity to confront the Chase family about why they let Annabeth run off. They aren’t what she (or Percy) were expecting. The Chases offer to drive them to the mountain, but Thalia declines the offer. Before leaving the Chases she and Percy talk. Thalia: “I want to hate them. But I don’t. They… seemed so worried about her.” They fly to the mountain, a lightning strike forces them to land. Thalia blames her father. Zoe leads them to Ladon.

Episode 9: I Put On A Few Million Extra Pounds

Here’s where I really want the hat to return. Percy and Luke fight while Zoe and Thalia engage Atlas and other foes. Luke is not doing so hot, and Percy beats him easily. Percy gets the hat back and takes in the scene before him. Zoe and Thalia fighting Atlas. Artemis under the sky. Annabeth knocked out. He wants to join the fight. Zoe gets flung away and Thalia is alone. Mr. D’s words about heroes being selfish come back to him. He recalls his fatal flaw. To save a friend he’d destroy the world. He can’t win this fight. Cut to Percy is nowhere to be seen. He appears next to Artemis, taking off Annabeth’s hat. He urges her to let him take the weight. She does and she manages to get Atlas back under the sky. And so it goes in the books, Mr. Chase helps them escape, Zoe can see the stars, and the quest has come to a close. While Percy and Annabeth reunite after the escape, Thalia steps aside to speak to Artemis. We do not see this conversation. Yet.

Episode 10: I Get A New Enemy For Christmas

Clarisse returns to Camp with Chris. (Is this the new enemy the title refers to?) Chiron ushers them out of sight. Do we name drop Will or Lee or Michael here? On Olympus, the heroes stand before the gods seeing the judgement over Bessie and them. When the subject of Thalia’s imminent birthday arises, she steps forward. We alternate between present time and flashbacks to her conversation with Artemis only hours earlier. In the flashbacks, Thalia confesses to Artemis what Zeus did to her. She asks Artemis for protection against retaliation from her father. In present time, Thalia looks her father in the eyes and denounces her status as his child and claims a spot as a Hunter of Artemis. She will not grow old. She will not be the child of the prophecy. He will not have any control over her or the prophecy. There is no party on Olympus. Athena finds Percy and warns him of his fatal flaw now that he will be the child of the prophecy. They return to Camp. “Where’s… where’s my sister?” You know how it goes. Nico destroys the skeletons and runs away. Annabeth and Grover find Percy with the hades figurine. They realize who Nico’s father is. Percy leaves Camp to return home for the remainder of the school year. Paul is there because we love Paul and we need Paul content immediately. And Percy gives some dramatic and ominous final VO narration to end the episode.

First post credits scene will show Annabeth and Clarisse at Camp looking at Chris. Clarisse informs her the Labyrinth is real and it’s dangerous.

Second post credits scene will show Luke just walking up the steps to an ordinary looking house. His feet move past little toy stuffed animals in the shapes of mythological creatures. Kronos’s voice reminds him he needs the blessing. Luke knocks on the door.
