Felt like drawing the golden prince inbetween bigger projects
Torna is the most emotional and deeply tragic tale told in the Xenoblade trilogy + dlc stories
The biggest plot twist in any Xeno game is that Addam has an off screen wife

A quick recap of all the games that have made me unwell from emotion
• Xenoblade Chronicles 3
• Torna - The Golden Country
• Love Nikki all those years ago
and that’s literally it
I was gonna reblog @sinobop's art but realized I couldn't pick any so I'm just gonna put this here and say I'm not gonna share any specific amazing piece because all of their art AND their person is amazing.
They've got really cool Torna ~ The Golden Country and Xenoblade 2 art, often featuring Jin x Malos and young Mikhail. I love all of it. I'm aware I'm shouting into a vacuum with people who are probably already aware of their existence because they're also Xenoblade fans but screw it they deserve appreciation.
Historians will say they were "brother and sister"
oughhhh wait pause i know this has probably been discussed or whatever but i was thinking about torna the golden country battle mechanics and how they tie in to the larger narrative
Lora has Jin and Haze, a balance of offense and support, since she had to be self-sufficient almost her entire life. She needed to get jobs done and to defend herself (Jin's attacking prowess), but she also had to be defensive and take care of herself (Haze's healing). And her own attacks show this too! She can get potions with her attacks! She can fully perform both a driver and blade combo just with the three of them (Lora Break -> Jin Topple -> Lora Launch -> Haze Smash // Wind -> Ice -> Ice PLUS whatever weapon she has allowing for more combos!)!!! And her own original element, Fire, is also self-sufficient in combos!!
Addam, on the other hand, is a soldier who tends to rely on others (like his militia) for support and strategy. Both Mythra and Minoth are not really "his" blades (Pneuma's true driver being Rex and Minoth technically being Amalthus' blade), as well as both being some kind of "anomalies" (Aegis/Flesh Eater) he has taken in, showing his caring side. Both blades are self-sufficient in blade combos (Light x3, Dark x3), but Addam's default element, Electric, needs support to reach its full potential. In fact, once Minoth joins, they can finally do a blade combo all by themselves (Dark -> Light -> Electric), showing how they're learning to work together!! And it's Minoth who finally makes a full driver combo possible (Minoth Break -> Addam Topple -> Addam Launch -> Mythra Smash)!!! Interesting to note here is how Team Addam is the only one to require a Driver consecutively to make a combo, perhaps suggesting they're still not as used to working in tandem as Team Lora or Team Hugo.
Hugo is interesting. We know his blades are used to working together, even if they don't remember it, and their defensive playstyle strengthens the idea of "bodyguards" - they're here to take the heat and protect their emperor. However, Hugo's selflessness shines through, with him being a Defensive Tank (as opposed to Brighid and Aegaeon's evasiveness) that takes the hits head-on in order to protect others. An admirable quality in a ruler! Hugo also helps bridge the Driver combo (Brighid Break -> Hugo Topple -> Aegaeon Launch -> Hugo Smash). Which could mean nothing. Regarding blade combos, both Aegaeon and Brighid could be self-sufficient (Fire x3, Water x3), useful in times when they're separated (e.g. XC2's main quest), but they can also work together (Fire -> Water -> Fire). Hugo, of course, is also self-sufficient (Earth x3), and curiously he can combo with Brighid (Earth -> Fire -> Earth)... but not with Aegaeon (Water -> Earth -> Wind). Interesting to note Wind helps finish both Water/Earth and Earth/Fire combos, perhaps suggesting Team Hugo really needs some R&R. Wouldn't surprise me!
