The midsummer sun beats down on the tuba player during the first of a series of six noon-hour concerts in Borough Hall Park on July 18, 1951. The concerts were given by the 328th Army Ground Forces Band of the New York Port of Embarkation under the sponsorship of a Brooklyn Army and Air Force recruiting station. They hoped to reach office workers and others wandering through the park at lunchtime.
