Swipe right for rest of poem 👉 This is sort of a longer piece and I think stylistically diverts from my normal tone. It follows this story arc I'm sort of obsessed with. I'vee written short stories with this couple a few times. But the narrator is a young girl caught in this inconsistent relationship with a much older man. In this poem she's finally cutting him off after feeling unappreciated and ignored, maybe even condescended to. I think it was appropriate for the prompt especially since age can create some toxic power dynamics in relationships. I incorporated a #tunes4june prompt in this, "I broke my back because I thought you would too" day 26! Wow can't believe it's almost over! Thanks again to @aqpoetry for all these lovely prompts! I don't normally post this quickly but when I saw the newest #tunes4june I couldn't help it. The prompt is "there are things I can only tell you quietly". The poem is about a couple where one of them suffers from Alexithymia. She wants to express why she's so upset, why she's often like this, but she can't find the words.
