Okay okay okay OKAY all jokes aside, I’m really distraught at the current state of acceptance both within and outside of the lgbtq+, HELL even the Mogai community is scaring me with its exclusionary vitriol in recent times.
I just don’t understand the absolute blood boiling hatred so many have towards harmless good faith identities that have existed throughout the entire history of the queer community, I mean, he/him and transmasc lesbians are RIGHT THERE. Bisexuals and Pansexuals have both existed RIGHT AMONG US for so long. We definitely didn’t have a term for a lot of things “back then” but labels like Lesboy and Turi/Veldigirl or Bi-Lesbian actually make a lot of sense when you sit down to understand the whole point of the movement.
How did we become so damn strict and immovable when it comes to personal identification? Isn’t our history explicitly about abolishing oppressive binaries, expectations, and societal norms? Since when was it about getting to a particular point with idk acronyms and “acceptable” labels before we could start eliminating everyone else and stop accepting growth and innovation. idk. I just can’t believe that within our own massively diverse spaces still so many have to hide their true selves in fear, in the community of self-expression and pride! It’s always a constant war amongst ourselves raging alongside the war against all of us from the conformant world. We should be standing together and sharing love and life stories to heal but no! It’s all about “MY life means that YOUR experience is invalid”. Don’t you think that’s why we had to start fighting for our rights in the first damn place? People thinking that others living differently and describing their DIFFERENT lives as god forbid DIFFERENT from their own is a reason to silence and attack said others is textbook. We need to stop internalising all this main character shit and realise that no one person can quite describe their life experience the same as the next. Yes, it’s all about relating and accepting, so why is there barely any of that here? You can blow up a Bi-lesbian’s DMs and tell them to kill themselves all you want, hell you can even spend all day everyday typing long winded personal attacks towards people with Xenogenders or who use Neopronouns. Just remember that it won’t change the fact that all of us collectively are Others to the world. We can’t we be Others as one and not as separate factions in a war?
Soon some of you will realise how stupid a lot of this discourse and exclusion shit is, and you’ll get tired of trying to apply strict brick walls to a community that was always about and always will be about breaking them. I love all you good faith identities out there no matter how “contradictory” you get perceived as. Literally everything in life is contradictory and no NOTHING is truly binary in the true scale of reality and life as we know it so why should we stall progress by kicking and screaming when times change.
Lesboys and turigirls are also, no questions asked, valid.
I don't even know what to say to people who don't support those labels. They're not for 100% cis people, like. at all. No one is using those labels to invade the community or whatever.
Lesboy is for bigender lesbians, genderfluid lesbians, he/him lesbians, gnc lesbians, genderpunk lesbians, non-binary lesbians, butch lesbians, intersex lesbians, and so many others. Transfems/transwomen may use the label to reclaim their boyness/turn it feminine. Transmascs/transmen may use the label because they still feel connected to the experience.
Turigirl is for bigender gays, genderfluid gays, she/her gays, gnc gays, genderpunk gays, non-binary gays, fem gays, intersex gays, plus more. Transfems/transwomen may use the label because they still feel connected to the experience. Transmascs/transmen may use the label to reclaim their girlness/turn it masculine.
Personally, as a sapphiboy (sapphic boy), I identify as sapphic for multiple reasons.
1: I am demipangender, meaning I partially identify as all genders in some way.
2: I am intersex and it greatly affects my identity.
3: I am very genderpunk and GNC because gender roles are fucking stupid and I'm a complicated being.
4: I am both non-binary and a boy.
5: CW: This is a bit more in depth of my life. It touches on bullying, homophobia, and brief mentions of sexual shit. Growing up, I was a huge tomboy, which already got me some stares. In elementary school (3rd grade), I was outed as a sapphic because someone had overheard me talking about my girl crush.
I was bullied for that. A lot. Got called slurs, was told to "suck dick to turn me straight", had people force me to watch porn, etc. The sapphic label was a huge part of my life. I had all the experiences of a sapphic. That label is still a huge part of me, even if I don't "fit" the identity.
In summary, you have no right to police your own community's labels. You don't know everyone's experiences and they don't owe you that. However, for the sake of my argument, I decided to share a bit of my story. Thank you for reading.
to every lesboy, turgirl, gaybian, mspec lesbian, mspec gay, and anything along these lines: a very snuggle & a kiss, and some hot cocoa w/ a fireplace & a blanket
to everyone who excludes these people: a very please read up on queer history
