SOME HELP FOR WRITING MUMMY OC'S;

Around 1539 BC, the Pharaohs stopped using pyramids to bury they're dead kings/queens, and started using the Valley of the Kings. (It was easier to protect from robbers) There was also a Valley of the Nobles, which was for rich/important individuals who weren't royal.

Usually there are only 4 canopic jars, the heart is actually left in the body because it's believed that they need it to enter the after life. So in cases where the mummy is undead, you can use this as a plot point as to why they're undead and not dead dead.

Hearing about how close that pizza hut is to the pyramid and its so funny to me.

I just imagine Tut feeling homesick so cleo and zak save up for months to surprise him with a trip home and then they end up at thar pizza hut and he breaks down. Bc when Egypt was far away it was easy to pretend it hadn't changed, that the home he remembered and all its values wasn't lost just far away. But its very different, the politics, the social norms, the clothes, the language, everything moved on without him. His home became unrecognizable in his absence. Even gods left.

What are you suppose to do when your mummy friend is crying on the floor od a pizza hut?

Also he probably couldn't get his stomach through customs so he can't even enjoy the pizza. (I mean they could of used zaks family air ship)

Cleo Carter in my tutinstine AU

In my AU most of Cleo's backstory stays the same, Her dad went missing/died when she was young and she started to study anthropology, archeology, Egyptology ect to feel closer to him. Throwing herself into her studies was also a way to avoid processing that grief directly. She gets a part time job at the museum while going to college.

She still has a bit of a short temper when it comes to Tut needing so much attention and protection and hand holding while he gets use to the present. Though at the end of the day she knows he means well as is trying his best. She comes and goes from the museum a lot, some days it makes her very happy to continue her fathers work and feel close to him, but other times its really hard because she misses him and needs a break when it gets to be too much. It even hurts a little that she can bring a mummy back to life but can't see her father again. Tut and Walter help her to finally process all of this. She was forced to be a very strong person for so long and now she has friends who are finally helping her learn to slow down and enjoy the present for once.

So this one is actually very personal to me since I based her off a friend I had at the start of college who sadly died near the start of the pandemic in a very nasty car crash. I couldn't help thinking about her when I rewatched the show. I've never been good at writing characters who are grieving despite having lost parents, relatives and friends myself. I feel like they all still influence me a lot and because, of that, they're never truly gone. Even in redesigning Cleo I tried to do it in a way my friend would have liked and not the way I might of done it just by myself. Even though I know I can never show her.

I really wanna geek out with someone over my tutinstine AU, especially how he copes with the loss of his culture and how he does his best to preserve parts of it. Im probably projecting a lot at this point. Technically in this AU he isn't even the real tut, he was a body double raised to replace the king in his tomb. so now he gets to live for just himself and has to find out who that is.

I know I keep drawing him and no one knows who he is but IDC. Tutinstine needs a modern-times AU that's more historically accurate and if no one else is gonna make the content I crave then I have to.

so once again, basics info and explaining misconceptions  Tutinstine (Tutankhsetamun from the 20th Dynasty) is not the same person as the IRL king tut (Tutankhamun from the 18th Dynasty). And had no real world counterpart, at least not directly. I will be using the irl king tuts mummy as a reference, things like where scars are, broken bones and his heart being missing. 

Now that that's out of the way, reminder of the AU basics: Tutinstine is an adult in this Au, Chelo is in her mid 20s and unknowingly come from a family of necromancers. Accidently bringing back the pharaoh.  In his life tutinstine was brainwashed and raised to be a body double for the real pharaoh, if either was hurt the other would be hurt so there bodies would match. The whole process was traumatic. Tuts leg was broken then he was poisoned shortly after.   The real pharos body was hidden in a smaller tomb and mummified in secret, while our protagonists body was left to be mummified in public permitting people to sabotage his trip to the afterlife by removing his heart and later robbing his tomb.  At first when he wakes up he believed he was the true ruler but it becomes clear he doesn't have many skills he would have needed to rule and seems. He also never made it to the afterlife thanks to his stolen heart, this means that at first he has no connection to the gods, though he can still use items like the septar of was and with help from chelo learns magic.  when they learn of his tragic life and he gets his connection to the gods he is given a proper second chance at a life. The gods work together to make sure he has everything he needs, basic knowledge and paperwork for example.  He often raids chelos closet for clothes and jewelry.
