Summary: You wake up from the infamous Baby Dream and are distraught. Jack has no idea what is going on. He tries his best to understand.
TW: Babies? Grief? It's a weird one, no actual babies just dream babies and that weird feeling of grief after you have The Baby Dream.
A/N: I saw a tiktok talking about this after I had a baby dream last night and I'm still getting that weird feeling off me. I am cursed with vivid dreams, so my Baby Dreams get detailed. It's so hard to figure out how to deal with the aftermath of that dream. Sound off, if you have had a Baby Dream and if you still think about them.
The house was quiet as the morning broke. The soft sounds of snoring and gentle breaths filled the room as the sun started to peek through the window. The air was warm and comforting. Jack had his arms wrapped around you, his body heat keeping you toasty.
The calm was broken as you jolted awake. It took you a moment to process that you were awake. Once the realization settled in, you couldn’t stop the sob that croaked from deep in your chest.
“Baby? Hey, what’s going on?” Jack sat up, groggy and confused.
“She was real! I held her!” You cried.
“What? Hey, breathe for me. Come on, Honey. Deep breath.” Jack rubbed circles on your back, trying to get you to calm down.
“I’ll never see her again! She was real!” You were consumed by a grief that was so unique it was almost impossible to put into words.
“Honey, I don’t understand what’s going on.” Jack sighed, feeling completely out of his depths.
“I…I had a dream. We had a baby.” You tried to take a breath, but it stuttered in your chest.
“In the dream? We had a baby in the dream?” Jack tried to put the pieces together.
“Yeah. Jack, I felt all of it. I was pregnant, I felt her kick and everything. I gave birth to her. I held her in my arms. I can still see her face. I smelled her little head. We named her Josephine, after my grandmother. Josephine Anne Abbot. You cried when she was born. We brought her home, I watched her grow and crawl and fed her. And now…she’s just gone.” You tried to get him to understand.
“Honey…I’m sorry, I don’t know how to help this.” Jack sighed.
“Do men not have the baby dream?” You looked up at him with tear-filled eyes.
“Is this a thing? I’ve never heard of it.” He shook his head.
“It’s a thing. It’s a terrible fucking thing.” You hiccupped as you climbed over him to get your phone from where it charged on his nightstand.
“What are you doing?” He watched as you jabbed at your phone like it had insulted you.
“I need…I need someone that understands.” You mumbled.
“I’m trying, Honey.” Jack reached out for you.
“I know. But you don’t.” You sighed as you hit McKay’s contact and hit the FaceTime button.
“Hey! Oh shit. You look like crap.” She said as she moved to a different room and closed the door.
“I had the baby dream.” You sobbed.
“Oh, Sweetie.” She cooed. “I’m sorry.”
“It was so real! Cassie, I can still smell her!” You were falling back into hysterics. Jack rubbed your back, watching you carefully.
“It’s the worst, Honey. It’s so hard to shake, I know.” Cassie said, the memory of her own baby dream played in her head.
“I…I don’t know how to just leave it behind. Like…am I supposed to just forget!?” You cried, desperate for a clear-cut answer.
“I don’t have the right answer, I’m afraid. I still remember mine. But it just becomes a weird memory of a memory. That isn’t helpful.” Cassie was upset with her own inability to help you.
“I don’t want to forget her! She was my baby!” You sobbed.
“Honey, take some deep breaths. Please.” Jack coached.
“Just relax. Take some deep breaths, give yourself some extra grace today. You have the day off, stay in bed and grieve. That’s the best advice I have.” Cassie wanted to reach through the phone and hug you.
“Okay…I feel crazy.” You rubbed at your sore eyes.
“I know, but you aren’t. It feels real because, to your brain, it was real for a while. So, let yourself grieve like it was real.” Cassie told her.
“Okay. Sorry, I cried at you.” You mumbled.
“Oh, stop that. You know I don’t care. I love ya, go back to sleep.” She winked and ended the call.
“Sorry, I scared you.” You shimmied down under the blankets again.
“You’re okay. I was just worried and confused as hell.” Jack smiled.
“Jack, it was so real.” The tears fell more slowly now, but the lump in your throat hadn’t gone away.
“I’m sure.” Jack pulled you close, your head on his chest. “Should we be having a bigger conversation?”
“I don’t know. Not right now, at least.” You sighed.
“Tell me about her.” He traced lazy patterns on your arm, his other hand entwined with yours.
“What?” You went rigid in his arms.
“It might help. Get it out of your system. Tell me about her. I didn’t get to see her.” Jack kissed your hair.
“Um…she had red hair, like your hair in your baby pictures. Curly like yours.” You smile at the memory.
“So, I cursed her with this mop.” Jack hummed.
“It was so cute. She got your nose, too. My eyes. She had big, chubby cheeks and the cutest smile.” Jack felt your tears hitting his chest.
“I bet she was perfect.” Jack could almost see her as you spoke.
“She was so little in your arms. It was so cute it made my chest hurt. She had that smell, that baby smell. You looked at her like she was the most important person in the world.” You started to calm down little by little.
“She was.” Jack felt himself getting emotional.
“We should absolutely not make a decision right now, but I’m going to have your baby one day.” You propped yourself up on your elbow to look at him.
“You let me know when you’re ready. I’m ready.” Jack smiles at the determination on your face.
“Okay. Good.” You fall back into his arms. “I don’t want to do a single thing today.”
“Takeout and movies it is.” He brought your hand to his lips, kissing each knuckle. “Josephine. It’s a good name.”
This is the Robert Robertson III x pregnant!reader I ran a poll on.
Original family edition!
It's Get-Away Time
You stepped out of the car after paying the taxi a good amount of money. Your feet ached a little bit but it was whatever. Step by step, you made your way towards your family home before knocking on the door.
"Surprise!" You shouted at your brother.
"What the heck! What are you doing here? Where's Robert?" Your brother looked all around crazily.
"I ran away. He was too clingy y'know." You said with a straight face.
"What?!"
"Jack, who's at the door?" A voice from behind your brother echoes.
You made your way in, "Hi mom!"
"Oh my God what are you doing here? Where's Robert?" Same as your brother, your mother frantically looked around.
"I made the journey by myself. Robert doesn't even know I'm here."
"What!" Both of them shouted.
"I mean I get it, I'm gonna pop anytime now. But also, he literally refuses to let me step on tile because he thinks I'll slip and fall. And, hey, I thought, I haven't visited my family since we announced the pregnancy. So, here I am." You cheerily ended your explanation as you watched your family members panic.
"You came here alone?! Who drove you? Was it a stranger? Did you at least bring your hopsital bag?"
"Ah, don't worry about that. This little one won't be popping out today. Maybe tomorrow though…" You pat your belly pondering.
“Sometimes I wonder where you get these ideas from…”
"Aw, you love me. Besides, I get my craziness from dad, you know that."
"Speaking of your father, he'll be back with Cameron and Lynn in a few minutes. He just went grocery shopping."
"Oh God," Jack stared at you with dread, "How long are you staying? I don't think dad's bought enough food for you. I'll go!—"
You stopped your brother before he could finish putting on his coat. "Don't worry! I'm only visiting for a day. Robert's gonna find out any second now that I've disappeared and then he's gonna come get me after his shift." You took off your brother's coat and put it back on the coat racket.
"I wish you'd at least told us beforehand so we could pick you up instead of having yoh ride in a taxi." Your mother sighed.
"Ah c'mon, I was perfectly safe." You giggled a little bit before settling on the couch where your mother sat.
Right away, your brother went to the kitchen to cut up some fruit for you all to share. While he did that, you and your mother chose a show to watch while waiting for the other three to get home.
.
.
.
"We're home!"
Your father walked out from the garage carrying three bags. Following behind him were your other brother and sister whom each carried two bags.
With a slice of fruit in your mouth, you happily greeted your family. "Hey dad! Guess who came to visit?" You pointed to yourself.
Shocked at first, it took but a second for your father to come stumbling over to give you a hug. "There's my kid! Springing up random visits just like your old man."
"You know it!" Happily, you hugged your father before your siblings made their way to hug you as well.
"Finally divorced Robert?" Your sister asked.
"Haha, very funny. I've already made that joke."
"Alright, alright. So, what're you here for?"
"Just a break. Robert's been too paranoid lately. Thinks I'll go rock climbing if I'm not at home." A small maniacal giggle left your mouth. After all, Robert's behavior was just ridiculous to you. Completely incomprehensible.
"I dont know. I've known you my whole life and that seems totally plausible…" Lynn slyly looked around.
Before you could respond, Jack asked you, "Remember when you climbed that tree when you were six?"”
"Oh gosh, yeah! That was fun."
"Then you threw yourself off the tree and chipped three of your teeth."
"Oh. Yeah. Wasn't that bad though." You gave a slight shrug at the memory before placing another slice of fruit in your mouth.
.
.
.
For a while you reminisced on your childhood adventures and experiments before you felt a buzz from your phone. You picked up the piece of tech and saw that it was a text from Robert.

After spending hours laughing and talking with your family, you thought about your feelings. After all, you hadn't realized how much you missed your family. Although you made sure to visit often before you were pregnant, life had gotten derailed after the pregnancy announcement.
First, there was a sickness going around that you had to avoid. Then, your diet had to completely change. There was also that one criminal who happened to rob the store you were in. Also, that time you avoided getting in a minor crash. Plus, you had to make all those arrangements for the baby's health and education. Lastly, you stepped on a banana peel (without slipping) which gave Robert nightmares leading to his current paranoid state.
It was all kind of crazy and so getting to spend time with your family was just the break you needed. You got a nice dinner, could talk to then face to face rather than over the phone, remember bits of your childhood, and arrange a babysitting plan.
At around 8 PM, the doorbell rang. It was pretty obvious who was at the door. with a bit of a wobble, you made your way towards the door and opened it with a small smile.
"Hey handsome, lose something?"
In a blink, Robert was holding you tightly. Beef was just as fast running to you with only a few slips here and there. You could hear Robert choke up a little bit while he spoke, "Thank goodness you're okay."
"Robert, I wasn't gonna let anything happen to me and our baby.” You stepped backwards a little bit to get them fully inside.
“I know. I know.” He closed the door behind him and let out a sigh of relief.
“I thought you wanted us to go.”
“I do. But, I also know that you haven't been feeling great recently and now that you've visited your family, you look healthier. So, we can stay for a little while longer if you want.”
“Thanks, Robert.” With a little kiss to his cheek, you lead him towards the backyard where the rest of your family awaits.
.
.
.
“Well, I guess visiting my family really was what I needed to do huh?”
“This is not the time to be joking, you are in labor.”
“I am employed, yes.”
Robert was not amused.
But you just smiled at him and continued to talk. “Guess pop-rock's all excited to meet everyone face to face.” You took a deep breath. “Must've been just as bored as I was staying home all day.”
“How far are the contractions?”
“About six minutes apart, lasting a minute. Which means we can still wait until we get to the hospital.”
“Absolutely not."
"Alright alright...can we get some food?"
Your husband didn't say anything but you knew he'd take the detour since he didn't want you going hungry while recovering.
After handing you the food, he started up the car again and drove (albeit more slowly to prevent the drive from disturbing your eating) to the hospital. There, you and your husband checked in before waiting a bit. While waiting, you messaged your family. They congratulated you and your husband as well as put in a few words about wishing for your health to recover quickly. You and Robert thanked them as you entered the room where your child would be born, then you finally put it away.
.
.
.
You had spent thirteen hours in labor before your baby was born. Your little family spent two days in the hospital before going home. Finally, you spent a month with just your husband and baby before inviting the family to meet them.
Just like you thought, your baby absolutely adored being surrounded by your family, even sharing their first laugh with them all.
TW: kids, pregnancy, reader is depicted as female, domestic, fluff
Malleus Draconia-
4-15 kids, this man lit up when you told him you were expecting. As King of Briar Valley, he gets an heir to the throne. As your husband he was thrilled that your family could grow. His kids are very chill, understanding; even as toddlers they rarely ever threw a tantrum , and when they simply calm down after 10 minutes. Very smart children as well have never had anything lower than 89%. Malleus teaches his kids there is work and there is play; there are times they have to treat him as Malleus Draconia, ruler of faes, and Sovereign of Briar Valley, but other times he just plain dad. He is an amazing dad, always supporting and making an effort with his kids. I think he mostly has boys.
Lilia Vanrouge-
The two of you have 3 children together(4 counting Silver). Your kids have the same lovable, playful, and intelligent charm to them like their father. They are very athletic and chaotic. You never forget the night you woke up to you 4 month hang on the ceiling above your sleeping figure; you never fail to let them forget it when they complain about you taking away their beauty sleep when you wake them up early for school.Lilia is ofc a great that , we see that, you see it, I see it, and most of all his kids see it. Your family never fails to put a smile on each other's face, no matter what happens. I think he'd have 2 girls and a boy. +Although Silver sleeps a lot he still the best big brother ever!!(their words!!)
Silver-
1 beautiful yet sleepy child. Never cried at night because their too busy sleeping. You finish feeding them? They're napping. They've been playing for 10 minutes? Needs a nap in between. It would've concerned you if it weren't for your husband. No matter how sleepy Silver is, he stays protective of your family, no one is putting a hand on to either of your hairs. If their's one thing he will never sleep through is your kids events, like plays, performances, speeches, graduation, etc. I highly believe he has a son.
Sebek Zigvolt-
5 loud children. Now you could be thinking that he's too busy guarding Malleus to have 5 whole living breathing miniature beings; BUT HEAR ME OUT! His thought process is that if he has more kids, he could train more people to being Malleus' devoted followers ^^. Now depending on who you are I'm going to assume your not gonna force your kids to serve Malleus ofc not!! But dw he does genuinely love his kids no matter what. Would he prefer that they served His regal, sophisticated, genius, master, king, prince, and lord Malleus; but he loves them the way they are!! HE IS AN A AGGRESSIVE SOCCER MOM/DAD AT HEART, you say his kid missed, no they didn't your delusional >:( Has shelfs of all their achievements and all really outstanding test grades go right on the fridge. 3 boys, 2 girls
A/N: Now Ik it took me forever to post this but I have been sick since Friday, so I didn't want to post while not fully myself. I feel better now, not completely back to my usual self but I can definitely post!!
@orange-dreamzer here's that old dreammare au of mine (super old and unorganized, read it if you want though ☺️), i thought it'd be easier to read as a post
Reborn as Aristocrats AU; dreammare; background Shatteredmare
Cw: fluff, comedy, incest, drama, babies 😭🤮
This world follows Nightmare reborn as the child to Shattered and Passive. Dream is also reborn as his twin. (Note, Nightmare is an incredibly unreliable narrator)
Nightmare hates being a baby and a child. Luckily, he is reborn with his goop, tentacles, and two purple eyes. Unfortunately, Dream is reborn with him.
Dream seems exactly the same as he was in their last life. They died in the multiverse. They killed each other and are reborn here.
Except, Nightmare doesn’t believe (or rather tries to deny) Dream has his memories like him (unfortunately, Dream is just living his best baby life and not taking his second chance for granted, he is going to enjoy life with his brother stars damn it!)
Growing up with a parent that looks like his child self as an adult is disorienting. But “Passive” is kind and tries his best to raise him. Now the abomination Shattered is astounding in a bad way, it’s like Dream’s worst traits (obsessive, stubborn) and more personified.
As a baby, they’ll rave on and on about how Nightmare looks just like Passive and Dream looks like a mix of both. Which made no sense to Nightmare who like Shattered had goop and tentacles.
///
It was official. Shattered would marry Passive the next spring. Shattered could barely contain himself. How would Pas look in a suit? With a thin white veil and a crown of flowers? Would he be able to wait until the end of the ceremony before being able to touch Pas again? Kiss him again?
“Prince Shattered?”
A polite cordial knock follows, cutting his daydream short. Shattered can’t be too mad though, it’s just Cross after all.
“Come in Cross,” Shattered beckons with a grin. Of course Cross would at the wedding, his right hand man ever since they were young. Shattered remembers fondly compelling Cross to pull pranks with him on unsuspecting nobles as young children.
The door closes with a click and Cross steps inside. He seems tired, withdrawn; nowadays he always seems like that.
But after the wedding things will get better. Passive will officially be able to sign off on documents, rather than having to go through Shattered first. Less work for him and Cross. Passive was star sent, truly.
His kingdom is changing, and Shattered couldn’t be happier that Passive has been driving this change.
Cross stands at attention, always so formal even now. “What brings you here?” Shattered smiles, Cross fits in the wedding perfectly. Waiting with him up at the alter, calming his nerves as he waits for the love of his life, his partner for the rest of eternity. Yes, there is no one better to be his best man-
“Please reconsider the marriage.”
Cross gets down on one knee, and pleas.
(Shattered is so smitten with Passive. Cross is not, rather he's smitten with Shattered, but he's not important)
Snip-bits:
///
Non-canon, but they originally had each other’s name.
“Dream, come here!” Passive claps his hands twice before holding them out. Dream turns his head, stands up, and waddles as fast as he can to Passive.
Shattered and Passive burst out laughing. “See! They don’t know who they are!”
Dream collapses in Passive’s arms, showing off the carved wooden duck he brought with him. Passive nods. “Very cool, Nightmare.” He picks up and places Dream in his lap. “But I was calling your brother.” Passive tries to keep his snickering to a minimum while Shattered is free to laugh.
“To be fair,” Shattered starts, “Dream wouldn’t come if you called him.” He sits next to the two and calls Nightmare to him, “Dream, Dream, come here Dream.” Beside him, the son he and Passive agreed to name “Nightmare” starts screaming.
Nightmare whips his head towards them from where he was sitting. What were they doing?
“Sorry, sorry, he just doesn’t like me!” Shattered argued. Dream clings on tightly to Passive.
“They don’t know who they are, he thinks you’re calling him.” Passive lets out a breathy laugh at the end of his sentence. He pats Dream on the butt in consultation. “It’s okay Nightmare.”
Oh, are they still on about that? As Nightmare got his comprehension back, because stars forbid a baby have a fully functioning brain the moment they´re born he guess, he realized he got named: Dream.
Of course, the proper reaction to that was Fuck no! He was not going to be called Dream in this life or any life. It was good that the other one took a liking to the name, responding to it instead of Nightmare. Eventually his dim-witted “parents” would catch on and switch what they called them.
“Nightmare, come here!” Shattered calls instead.
What was he a dog? But as Passive and the thing in his arms joined in, it was the best course of action to go to them.
To silence the cacophony which was his family, he lays down, rolls to his side, lets his tentacles push him to his stomach again, and repeats until he reaches the three.
They laugh, Nightmare knows they’re mocking him. He had tentacles! So what if he can’t walk or crawl yet (which the other one excelled at)! He had four appendages on his back, it was hard to balance! Plus, they weighed him down while crawling.
It’s nothing new, Nightmare. They would benefit him in the long run. When he’s grown, the tentacles will be an asset, not a burden. He just needs to bear with it.
Shattered coos, and picks him up with his tentacles. He could do this.
(He was wrong.)
“Hey Dreamy,” Shattered waggles his fingers towards him and Nightmare knows, no, he could not do this.
Nightmare starts bawling.
“Oh no.”
He was a strong supporter of never show weakness, but this was different. As Shattered hands him off to Passive - “Sorry baby, sorry,” - it confirms it, yes, this was manipulation. Only a baby could masterfully control the actions of those in power through crying. Alas, the effect changes once one is grown.
But that thing, his wretched companion from the womb, joins in.
“Shat!” Passive lightly bounces them while he laughs, “you’re scaring them.”
///
Nightmare and Dream’s second first fight:
…?
???
Where was his book? Nightmare scans his half of the room. He’s back on the soft, carpeted. floor after his nap, but his book was gone.
Usually, the cleaners put it back on the low shelf for Nightmare to grab, but it was empty.
It’s not where he left it either.
Where could- that no good unscrupulous piss baby! Why! That thing could barely see, let alone read.
But there it was, he flipped through the pages as if he could actually comprehend it. Sure, it was this world’s basic alphabet with accompanying pictures, but it was his!
Nightmare drops to his side and rolls to the non-footie pajama wearing freak.
He slams, as much as a baby could, into its back. It turns and upon processing, beams down at him, making Nightmare actually squint.
“Ny-ny-ny!” It babbles, like the unintelligable freak it was. Not that Night could talk either, but that wasn’t the point.
The point was he needs his book back. Using his superior motor skills, he grabs the wooden pages, pulling it out of the other’s lap.
It honestly couldn’t care less.
(Apparently baby wrestling isn't new with me ☠️☠️☠️☠️)
///
///
Nightmare’s a reader. He’s familiar with all types of genres. Rebirth, reincarnation, and royalty was no exception. He’s delved into worlds filled with war, political fiancés, and plans to overthrow the government. He’s read stories with cruel aristocrats, kind thieves, and tyrant kings.
But from all the novels Nightmare had ever read about royalty, he had never expected this. His vast collection of books about medieval times and kingdoms, non-fiction or otherwise, never depicted royals as loving, especially not to this extent.
Where was the infighting!? The treacherous plots, the unloving spouses!? Nightmare’s favorite stories are ones where the main character climbs their way to the top no matter what duke or queen or whatever had to say about it.
So why?! Why?!
“Good morning,” Coos a goopy yellow eyed skeleton from above him. “Did I wake you up?”
He smiles fondly down at him. His singular eye softening like melted butter. “Your papa’s not awake yet, but I just had to see you before I went to work.”
He gently puts his arms under Nightmare, supporting his neck and holding his other side up by the butt. He places a chaste kiss on his forehead and Nightmare wants to drop out of his arms to the floor and die.
He cries instead, but if only…
“OH, you’re okay, you’re okay. I’m right here. Are you hungry?”
He can’t even talk, so he keeps wailing until the guy gets the hint. Instead he lightly pats his bum as if that would help.
Nightmare squirms, struggles, waggles, whatever he could to get out of this man’s arms. He was not starting the day like this.
On the other side of the room, a similar wails rings out. Except it’s twice as annoying because it was his.
“Oh no.”
Shattered rushes to the other side of the room, picking up the other baby. Yellow pinpricks, white as porcelain bones, and screaming like a pterodactyl.
“Shhhhh. You’re both okay, see? Daddy’s here!”
They both keep crying because they hate this man. Their screams instead summoning the other one.
“Ah, Passive, what brings you here?” Shattered starts. He poorly smiles, a mix of a grimace and an apology.
Passive just offers his arms and both babies instantly latch onto the other, quieting. He’s only in dress pants and a dress shirt, the rest of his adornments not yet put on.
“If I said I found them like this…”
Passive fondly rolls his eyes, “I’d know you’d be lying.”
Shattered tentacles flop limply in regret. Passive takes pity on the man and turns his head so his cheek is reachable above the babies in his arms. Shattered is quick to place a few pecks on his cheek and one on each of his kids heads as well.
“Sorry, Love.” One last peck to his husband and he amends his statement, “Sorry, Loves.”
Passive rocks the twins gently. “We’ll forgive you if you join us for breakfast.”
Not true. He will never forgive this man. That rage will build with each wrong-doing and when the time is ready to strike, revenge will be as sweet as the smiles he gives his family.
“Okay,” with one last parting kiss to his husband and fond head-rub on each of his children which the yellow-eyed one loudly protests to. He leaves. It can’t have been longer than ten minutes, but finally.
Nightmare starts squirming again because this one is only slightly better than the goopy one. His tentacles aid him in pushing away from the purple-eyed skeleton. Passive indulges him and puts him back in his bassinet.
The other baby still clings to him, preferring to be with him than apart. “It’s morning time you two,” Passive sing-songs, before starting their morning ritual.
Passive is quick, well-practiced after three months of caring for the twins. He changes the two’s clothes. Nightmare can grudgingly admit the clothes are nice. They should be for an aristocratic family.
He gets fluffy little socks while the other gets shoes. Because it can stand already. At 3 months old. If it wasn’t for how stupid it acted, Nightmare wouldn’t think it was a baby, but some foreign growth infiltrating the mansion.
///
He couldn’t deny it any longer. His twin, this world’s unconventional birth partner, was Dream.
Dream laughs and cries at the same time, curling into Nightmare.
“Haha,” it peters out into a sob, “I knew it was you.”
Yeah right.
“Stars, you were such a bad baby! You read everyday, babies don’t do that!” Dream gently thumps Nightmare’s chest while making his point.
“What about you! You practically walked out of the womb!” Nightmare pinches his side and Dream grabs his arm in retaliation.
“Hey, babies can walk from very early ages. You didn’t walk until you were what? Two?” Dream pins Nightmare’s arms on both sides of his head.
“That was a conscious decision, I have tentacles coming out of my back!”
“Oh, so is that why you needed to roll around everywhere.” Dream laughs, Nightmare’s face burns, but he can’t refute it.
“It was just as effective as walking. Especially when I needed to chase down a thief.”
“Hmm, maybe I should have stolen more of your stuff if it made you come to me.” Dream moves his leg over to Nightmare’s other side.
“As if you could actually benefit from using my stuff.” Nightmare’s jab at Dream’s reading skills doesn’t land, his face becoming softer.
“Yeah,” Dream hums, releasing one of Nightmare’s hand and using the back of his own hand to stroke Nightmare’s face. The goop follows briefly before pulling back. “All I needed was you.”
Nightmare scoffs, but he can’t ignore how Dream straddled his hips. He’s not exactly pinning Nightmare down, but one immobilized hand didn’t mean much.
Dream leans down, but Nightmare turns his head pulling Dreams head down with his free hand. The combined force of Dream leaning down and Nightmare pulling him down gives Dream a mouth full of grass and dirt.
“Hey!”
Nightmare makes a non-commital sound, resting his hand on Dream’s head. His arms is still held down, but Dream’s grip loosens, interlocking their hands instead. Dream settles down, sinking into Nightmare and returning home in the crook of Nightmare’s neck.

There's other stuff like Shattered and Passive falling in love (not incest srz 🥲), Shatteredmare revealing they knew their children had the souls of beings beyond their stars, and Nightmare's climb to glory, and Dream trying to make out with Nightmare everywhere, and Nightmare -- as Shattered's mini me -- following him around and learning the ropes of aristocracy
Bi-Han is the type of Dad who lets you sleep through the night because he gets up with the baby every time they cry. He’s mastered warming up the milk he prepared from formula/you pumped earlier and is a pro at changing diapers and swaddling the baby, after all he is a big brother, it’s not his first rodeo even as a first time Dad. He never complains either, he just kisses your forehead every morning and thanks you for giving him a child and asks if you slept well. Most nights you don’t even wake up because the first little coo from your baby is enough to have Bi-Han up and in action, though sometimes when they’re extra fussy you do wake up and lurk in the door way to watch your husband rocking and singing to your newborn.

-----
Lucifer
the second the baby is handed over to him he's so proud of them already, and all they did was maybe stretch a little
lucifer is determined to protect this baby with his life, nothing will ever harm his child
and unless you are the other parent lucifer isn't letting anyone else hold his baby (not even diavolo)
if you point out he cried he'll deny it
Mammon
he cries the second he realises he's actually holding his baby
mammon starts talking to the baby, and he immediately goes to find his brothers so they can all look at the child
he's going to want to name them mammon jr or something you have to stop him if that is not what you want
he's not letting the baby go for a good while
Leviathan
he thought he would be terrified the moment he got to hold his baby but he's not, he's very happy
the second levi sees their little face he's determined to be the best father ever
'mc! did you see the little yawn?'
levi let lucifer hold the baby for 1 second and didn't like it, so he took the baby away from his brother fast
Satan
he didn't think he'd ever be capable of being a father figure, let alone like kids but here he is
fighting back tears as he holds his baby in his arms
before the baby was born satan read a lot of parenting books to make sure he knew what he was doing, but he realised what the baby needs most is love not theoretical stuff from some book
Asmodeus
if you asked asmo where he would see himself five years ago, holding his own baby wouldn't be something he'd say
he loves the baby so much already and he's only seen them for a minute
and how cute is this little baby? they're going to have so much fun and happines
asmo actually lets his brothers hold the baby but not for long
Beelzebub
his eyes sparkle with joy when the baby is being handed to him
then he cries because he has his own little family now
beel holds the baby close and gently rocks them back and forth, laughing when he notices the baby is enjoying it
he's extremely protective, nobody other than you can touch his baby
Belphegor
like satan, he never expected to be here in this position
but he's holding a baby he will protect and care for his entire life, it really hit him when the baby looked up at him
only you and beel may hold them anyone else isn't allowed to
if the baby falls asleep and somebody is being loud he will get mad
♡ Description: You find your husband spending time with your newborn son.
Heavily inspired by this piece of art!
Waking in the dark isn’t anything new to you. An aching body isn’t either. What is new, though, is the blank spot next to you in bed.
Your hand reaches out and feels the diminishing warmth from Vash’s bed side. He left a little bit ago, then. You’re tempted to fall back asleep, only…your eyes adjust to the dark, and you see the lamplight on through the bedroom doorway, down the hall.
Bleary, you look at the watch at your bedside table, using moonlight through the window to see. Three-o-two A.M. You sigh, sitting up. You’re still tired, but love and duty calls, even if Cooper isn’t crying right now.
Carefully, you get out of bed, minding the creaking floorboards beneath the rug and down the hallway. Your nightgown brushes your ankles. As you get closer to the pillar of light coming from the other room, you slow and listen.
“Cooper…little Coop…” A pause. “My Cooper-boy…”
You peak in.
Vash is turned from you, but you see your son laying on his shoulder. His little face is slack with sleep. Your husband sways back and forth slowly, rubbing a hand up and down the baby’s back. A small hiccup escapes your son.
“Oh yeah?” Vash murmurs, gently patting Cooper’s back. A big burp escapes next, followed by a newborn grunt. “Oh wow. Holdin’ that one in, huh?”
You bite your lip to keep your giggle in. Part of you wants to go in, but another part tells you that this is Vash-and-Cooper time. You watch from the sidelines.
Vash readjusts the blanket Cooper’s swaddled in. Holds him closer, nuzzles the babe’s cheek with his nose. “Love you,” he says quietly, pressing a gentle kiss to soft cheek, “Love you Coop. Yeah. You’re my boy, huh?”
The look on Vash’s face, even from the side, is one of pure peace and tired bliss. Ever since Cooper’s birth two weeks ago, Vash has been nothing but a doting husband and father. His eyes close slowly, pressing his nose into Cooper’s hair and inhaling. He’s mentioned several times now how he loves the “new baby” smell he has.
Cooper lets out another low grunt, tiny fist escaping the blanket to rest on Vash’s shoulder. Vash reaches up with a hand and holds Cooper’s hand with two fingers, wiggling it. “You’re a bubba, a bubba-boy,” Vash sings a little tune, swaying his hips as he walks around the room, “A bubba-boy, a bubs.” Cooper lets out a little coo. Vash presses another kiss to his cheek. “My bubs.”
It’s then he turns and sees you in the shadows. Vash jumps, holding Cooper closer for a moment, before relaxing and sighing. Knowing you’re caught, you come into the lamp light and smile. “I didn’t hear him this time,” you greet.
Vash smiles and bounces the baby a little. “He wasn’t crying. I just…” he shrugs, “Just wanted to hold him.”
Your heart swells. “Hm.” You come forward and gently scratch the back of your son’s head. He has a full head of hair, just like his dad. “Did you sleep at all?”
Vash shakes his head. “Nah. I kept feeling like I was gonna jump out of bed at every little noise. Just wanted to check on him.” Such is the life of a new parent. Everything makes you on-edge and tired at the same time. He eyes you. “What about you? Did you sleep?”
You pause a moment. “I had some weird dreams, so yes.”
He lays a cheek on Cooper’s head. “What were they about?”
You shake your head. “I’ll tell you later. This is your time with him.”
Vash looks a bit guilty. “It’s okay if you want to see him too, you know.”
“I know. But it’s good to have one-on-one time with him too.” You yawn. “Besides, I know he needs a bottle soon. I’ll go make it.”
“No, mayfly, you go back to bed – “
“I’m already up, hon. You snuggle him, I’ll go get him a bottle.” You lean forward and press a kiss to the corner of Vash’s mouth, then to Cooper’s head. Vash gives in easily – much more easily than he would have five years ago – and goes to sit in the armchair in the corner of the room.
As you leave the room, you smile, hearing Vash start up his little tune again. “You’re my bubs, my bubba-boy, my Cooper-boy, my Cooper-bubs~” That nickname is going to stick for a lifetime, you can already tell.
