After a lot of discussion on can's and cant's, safety plans, expectations and what exactly the Plumbob have to get evidence of - Ollie is on his way to a flight to New Sixam- which isn't terribly far geographically from Oasis Springs, but still. And is also sporting a lovely basic-tourist look. Weirdly the shorter hair kind of suits him, but I prefer the longer one.

Interestingly, this plays out very similar to the 2020 Close Encounter Academy challenge I did, which Dylan founded, the first chapter. Ollie was off to Strangerville and Dylan got worried because their adoptive mother, Ruby, never returned. Only Ollie was honest with him in the 2020 version. He isn't honest here because what he's doing has to be done in as much secrecy as possible.

Image 2 Ollie: Well, Dyl, how do I look? Dylan: Like an obnoxious prick.

Image 3 Ollie: Wonderful. Works for me. Dylan: So are you going to tell me where you're going now or no?

Image 4 Ollie: I'd tell you if I could, Dyl, but I can't. If someone's after me, just tell them I've gone away for the week or something. Dylan: You're coming back, yeah? You're definitely coming back?

Image 5 Ollie: Of course I'm coming back, Dyl- Dylan: That's exactly what Mum said, wasn't it?

Image 6 Ollie: (after a deep sigh) I'm not going as far as Sixam, Dyl. Look at your palm a second. Dylan: I don't want to- Ollie: Just do it, Dyl, please.

Image 7 Ollie: Mum didn't make promises lightly, and neither do I. She didn't expect her rocket to crash, but what matters is that she cared enough to leave her cava'coria* with us. As I said - I'm coming back. I promise. (lore note) *'heart pact' - Sixamians leave unique marks on others' palms to signal a promise. They remove the mark when the promised act has been committed.

Image 8 Ollie: Dyl, please, don't be like this. If I could be more honest with you, then I would be, okay?

Image 9 Ollie: You look after yourself, okay? Dylan: I will. You too. Did you remember the cowplant milk sachets*? Ollie: I did, don't worry. (Lore Note) *Cowplants grown in a lab are stimulated to produce milk that causes certain emotions without it having to eat anyone. This milk is used in both legal and illegal drugs - in this case, legal.

Image 10 Dylan: Don't forget to bring me something back, okay? Ollie: If I can find a fridge magnet with 'World's worst little brother' on it I'll be sure to pick it up. Dylan: What?! I've changed my mind - I'm not going to miss you now!

I just noticed this parallel between Octavia and Blitzø in the new episode:

Both Octavia and Blitzø run to their beloved parent for comfort after having a nightmare.

Except for Blitzø, Octavia’s worst nightmare is his reality - his mother has gone where he can never see her.

Edit: I just noticed another similarity between Octavia and Blitzø : their dialogue.

Octavia: (to Stolas) “I had a dream! A really bad dream!”

Blitzø: (to Tilla) “I was having the worst dream.”

Both characters don’t use the word: “nightmare”, for identical reasons.

Octavia’s age isn’t revealed in that scene in Loo Loo Land, but it seems like she wasn’t supposed to be older than five or so, implying that Via was too little to have learnt the word “nightmare” yet.

Even though Blitzø is an adult when he has his vision of Tilla, he doesn’t use the word “nightmare”, because he has gone back in his mind to when he was too young to have learnt that word. 💔

My Nan and Gramps were high school sweethearts. This year, next month, they would have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

His passing broke her heart and I'm doing my best to take comfort that she's back with him now. ❤️

Snippet Sunday

More of the same au as last time(CS au) and more of Gen's bereavement.

Every year it seemed there was some set dressing or piece of context that had left him as well. Something he didn’t think to write down because it had seemed so obvious. After the fifth year of this he’d written about his time at SOLDIER comprehensively for fear of losing what had ultimately been the happiest time in his life due to the fact that he’d had his people. It will still fade or become unrecognizable eventually, such is the depressing march of time. He yearns to slow that where he can. Even being capable of such loss felt like a betrayal to them. Now though he was given one of them back in a most cruelly ironic way. A shell his paramour had inhabited and secluded himself in. A seclusion he could supposedly be woken from, led out of the darkness and into the light. To most this would likely seem the perfect reward: a salvation from on high brings the lovers back together. The backstage god in the machine has brought forth the bounty denied earlier and blessed their union. My friend, the fates are cruel; There are no dreams, no honor remains; The arrow has left the bow of the goddess. Genesis was not a young man anymore despite his appearance. He wasn’t so naive as to think this story led to a happy ending. His romantic life had ended in tragedy and the players involved were not innocent or pure in any way. They became even less so in the aftermath. Sephiroth’s legacy was blood red and reviled by many with good reason. People didn’t tend to forgive someone who demolished their life and spat on the remains with one tragedy after another just because they were in love. Even with the time lapsed Meteorfall was still actively mourned planet wide even though only very young children from the time of the event were left by now. Genesis leaned deeper back against the counter and slid to the floor. The waves lapped at his feet in the cruelest way. They wouldn’t submerge him in his grief but still soak him in it yet leave him to his mind’s mercy. It was almost funny. Sephiroth had been so certain the blood of Wutai would stain his hands ad aeternum. Genesis had hoped it wouldn’t, that at least the man in question could live with himself and see more than a weapon in the mirror. How horrid was it then that the slaughter that had weighed on Sephiroth’s consciousness so heavily towards the end was washed away by a monsoon of further blood. What black-hearted dramatic irony: late night whispered assurances of the passage of time and a forgetful public consciousness had come to pass due to attempted genocide on a larger scale. The man, the boy, the being Genesis had been burning in his heart would’ve hated that.
