The Universality of Sad Burrito

While researching, I found this:

And that, regrettably, is why I had to shut it down. It's now a matter of national security. 

Kierston: Wait what?! 

Tynas: You were getting close Agent, too close. Hence I came up with a compromise to appease the people who give even me orders. I suggested we bring you in.

Kierston: You shut down my investigation!? What gives you the right!? And furthermore, why didn’t you want me to catch this killer?

Tynas: You simply would not have been able to catch them, catch up to them, maybe… but not catch and hold. I shut the investigation down to save lives. Scott Barker already died for his dalliances, and I didn’t intend to lose more. 

Kierston: That’s good and all, but you still haven’t answered my questions?

Tynas: *sighs* Ok. What gives me the right is my position with District Intelligence. And I believe I answered clearly, its not I don’t want you to not catch the killer, you simply didn’t have much clue what you were dealing with. What you were chasing… simply wasn’t human. But you have rattled them enough that we believe they have gone to ground again, and this is why we want you aboard. You can continue your investigation via us, and earn more than double the pay doing it. Sounds like win-win to me. 

Kierston: And me, but there sounds like there’s a catch to all this fantastic talk.

Tynas: Indeed you are right. Come lets have a seat a moment.

can we talk about david dobrik almost killing jeff wittek for a moment? Watching Jeff’s second episode of his documentary almost made me cry at how deeply sad it is.

The first red flag is that David asks Jeff, Todd and Natalie to become certified in sky diving for his big come back vlog. This requires them to jump out of planes over and over again, they then progress onto doing it without an attached instructor. At one point Jeff almost injures himself by being pulled off course by the wind and landing in a neighbouring field away from the landing zone. Not only is David asking his “friends” to risk their lives for content but he is not even at the ranch with them and is said to be at home playing video games. At one point in the video Todd and Jeff are shown creating video wills in case they die.

The video then goes onto where they were vlogging in Utah. David is operating heavy machinery that he is not qualified to operate and swinging his friends around on wakeboards, inflatables and finally a rope. Corinna is the first on the rope and is swung around so recklessly that she slips, luckily she is unharmed. However, the rope is knotted and it is easy to see how it could have become a noose and killed her. Jeff then gets on, it is clear that David is swinging him more dangerously and way too high all while operating the machinery one handed so he can hold a camera.

While this is not completely shown in Jeff’s video, full videos of the accident can be found on tik tok and twitter. David is swinging Jeff very high and fast when he suddenly stops the crane arm, Jeff then smacks into the crane arm at top speed, the rope is tied around his ankle and he drops, hanging upside down from the crane with his head under water.

Jeff stated on Logan Paul’s podcast that he broke his skull in 9 places and has metal plates holding his face together, his eye popped out of his skull. According to some reports he suffered brain damage and loss of vision in one of his eyes. He also required multiple surgeries as hinted at in the trailer for his docuseries.

What is most abhorrent is that David is in the documentary episode, grinning away, while he recounts how he almost killed his “friend”. David clearly shows again and again that he does not care if his “friends” live or die, he constantly puts them in life threatening situations for content and it’s despicable. Natalie, his childhood friend and assistant, puts her life on the line for his video and Jeff his friend of 2 years was inches away from being killed from participating in his videos.

This was entirely hushed up until recently, with Jeff being vague about his injuries and how he got them. David had everyone believe he was taking a break because he was being responsible with COVID measures while actually he had almost just murdered his “friend”. David’s return vlog was instead a tour of his new mansion and him flexing his obscene amount of wealth, all while Jeff was still undergoing surgery for an injury that David had inflicted on him.

Even after all this Jeff remains David’s friend, I assume he is under contract and has received settlement from David. But it is telling of David’s cultish friendship group that people will still be friends with him, defend him against recent sexual assault allegations which describe him enabling Dom to rape a girl and including it in a vlog, and be in his vlogs at all. What is he holding over them to make them remain friends with him?

Jeff is permanently injured by this accident and will suffer the consequences for the rest of his life, David does not give two shits.

David Dobrik is a monster.

Chapter 20: Headphones

Angel Rock is wreaking havoc on the school, and Chat Noir is nowhere to be seen.

Abelle rushed back to the fight, top in hand. The moment she saw the akuma the weapon was thrown and managed to wrap around the hand of Angel Rock reaching for her headphones. “Hey, hands off the headphones!”

Ladybug sent a grateful look as Chat hadn’t appeared quite yet. Angel, on the other hand, looked furious. Quickly, she used her other hand to send a sound burst at Abelle, but nothing happened as she made contact with her headphones.

That helped confirm Chloé’s theory since the hand currently tied up with her top was the same one wearing the bracelet. “Ladybug, the aku-“

She was unable to finish as Angel Rock twisted her hand to grab the string and then yank on it. Abelle internally scolded herself for not paying attention as she was pulled towards the akuma as she made contact with her headphones and another sonic blast hit.

Because of suddenly being pulled forward then blasted back, Abelle lost grip of the top, meaning she was now weaponless. It also didn’t help to be slammed into a wall. Fortunately because of the magic from being transformed, it wasn’t bad. Still, she was glad it hadn’t left her winded.

Angel Rock still had the top tangled around her hand, but it wasn’t impeding her too much so it was ignored. Still, since Ladybug has seen what happened, she threw her yo-yo, having it wrap around the same hand before she yanked it. The akuma wasn’t prepared and fell to the ground.

Abelle quickly jumped up and ran back over to untangle her top before Angel Rock could get back up. Unfortunately, she hadn’t quite gotten it loose when the akuma realized what was going on and got back up to stop her. But she had managed to mostly untangle it, so with a quick tug the rest of the string came away and the top finally returned to Abelle.

Quickly, the top was thrown again, wrapping around Angel Rock’s other arm. “Now all we need is that cat. Where is he?”

“I don’t know.” Ladybug said, making sure to pull on her yo-yo, the two weapons keeping the akuma in place from pulling in opposite directions.

“Figures, he never seems to take this seriously. I-” Abelle stopped talking as she saw something black floating a few feet behind Ladybug. “We need your Lucky Charm.”

“What?” Ladybug asked, caught off guard. “We just need to wait-”

“Come on, trust me. Besides I need to untie them too.”

Reluctantly, Ladybug nodded and at the same time they pulled their weapons away. Abelle ran towards Angel Rock and jumped onto the akuma before using her as a springboard. It was enough that she went over Ladybug as she ducked slightly.

Behind Abelle, she could hear a lucky charm being called followed by a ‘What the hell?!’ Abelle mostly ignored it as she grabbed the black kwami, who was currently holding a ring. “You’re Chat Noir’s kwami, right? Where is he?”

“He was nearby when the akuma first attacked. It caused some of the outer building to break and he’s trapped under some rubble outside. It also managed to knock the ring loose. I can phase through all the rocks and stuff, but the ring can’t.” Plagg gave the gist of what happened to Abelle, not caring that some of it was a lie.

The bee hero cursed under her breath, then waved over Ladybug, who was currently holding her lucky charm. Quickly the two of them hid in a classroom to regroup, and while Angel Rock didn’t follow them, Abelle still didn’t like the thought of them doing more damage.

“Please tell me you have a plan.” Ladybug said to Abelle, worrying the bee hero. “I can’t figure out anything with my Lucky Charm.”

Abelle swore again, and before she could say anything else, Plagg floated into Ladybug’s view. “Maybe it’s about me?”

“No no no no! You being here makes things worse!” Ladybug started panicking. “Where’s Chat Noir?”

“He’s trapped in some rubble. I can’t get the ring to him. Couldn’t… get the ring to him.”

Abelle didn’t like the tone of his voice that time. “What do you mean?” But Plagg didn’t answer.

It was quiet until Ladybug spoke up. “We need to find Adrien.” Abelle was about to speak when the other heroine turned the lucky charm around. At first it just looked like an oval of ladybug patterned paper, but the other side showed Adrien Agreste’s face.

“We can’t.” Plagg spoke. He couldn’t directly state that he was Chat Noir, but he could say more of the truth. “That kid? I saw him. The… first piece of rubble fell right above him. Chat Noir tried to stop it, but he wasn’t fast enough.” He hadn’t gotten the words out in time. “It came down right on his head.”

The two heroes were silent. Ladybug started crying a bit as Abelle fought back her own tears, slowly failing. This wasn’t the first time anyone had died because of an akuma attack. And it wasn’t the first time it had been someone they knew. Ladybug had seen Chat die more than once. But it had always been magical in nature. It was different this time because it was something more physical. Something that could happen outside an akuma attack.

And part of Ladybug worried. Sure, attacks had caused destruction before and people had recovered from it because of her cure. But deep down, she still worried. What if it didn’t happen this time. What if Adrien was gone. What if Chat was gone. What if anyone else stuck there was gone forever.

“Abelle, go outside and free people from rubble as much as you can. Plagg, come with me. I know where to take you.”

Abelle tried to ask Ladybug something, but was stopped. She was really worried now as the tears had stopped coming from the other heroine. She couldn’t tell if Ladybug was repressing her emotions, or just it was too much that she didn’t feel anything right now. Abelle quickly gave Plagg a worried look before leaving the classroom.

She immediately went to the people trapped under the fence from earlier. Since it wasn’t stone, the students were mostly fine. One had trouble walking, but another student quickly helped him walk off.

Nearby there was a small pile of rubble which someone else had an arm pinned under. She started to go towards it when Angel Rock landed in front of her. “I know you know where Alya is. So why don’t you take me to her?”

The bee froze. She didn’t actually know where Alya had gone. She just quickly glanced at the trapped student. Fortunately, someone else came to free them. “Oh, I suppose you don’t actually. Too bad.” And then a blast of music was sent at Abelle.

It consisted of some horn music and chimes, which actually caught the heroine’s attention. The music was different than before. She could obviously play the same music more than once. But maybe it meant something?

Quickly Abelle grabbed her top and jumped out of the attack. “Venom!” she yelled before running at Angel Rock and stabbing them. The akuma froze and she pulled the akuma’s hand away from the headphones.

Briefly, Abelle considered grabbing the bracelet too, but since she didn’t know where Ladybug was, she didn’t want to risk the butterfly getting away. Quickly she ran outside and detransformed. Because of the eroding school, no one was nearby. Pollen flew into her bag to wolf down a few jelly beans. Chloé looked around and noticed the large pile of rubble right near the entrance to the building. That had to be it.

Pollen came back out and Chloé changed back into Abelle, immediately racing to the rubble. She was glad for the extra strength from the transformation as she managed to lift the rocks and slowly unbury the people trapped underneath. She removed one and saw a familiar black shirt with three different colored stripes.

Abelle froze, just staring at him. His chest wasn’t moving. He really was… she stopped thinking about that, about to grab another rock when someone spoke behind her. “I never said you could leave. And I’m not a fan of you leaving me back there.”

I agree with everything you said about David/Jeff situation except the last part. I don’t know how much you know about Jeff but from following him for a long time and seeing his past Jeff is very loyal to his friends, sometimes loyal to a fault, always has been so I’m not surprised at all that he’s still friends or friendly with him. David is paying all his medical bills too. Just a horrible situation all the way around.

I get where your coming from I haven’t really ever watched much of Jeff but I was (shamefully) a fan of David’s vlogs for a couple years so that’s where my knowledge of the vlog squad is coming from.

First off I feel that David, the millionaire, paying Jeff’s medical bills is the bare minimum required of him, not even as a friend but as a human being.

And while you could be right in reference to Jeff being loyal to a fault and I kind of could see that based off of his defence of the David’s involvement in the sexual assault allegations against Dom, it does not excuse everyone else.

From my knowledge of youtube groups (Mr Beast, etc.) generally the other people who’s names aren’t on the channel but are a big part of the videos, as the vlog squad members are, will be under contract so that David pays them a certain amount for the videos they’re in. I don’t know if any of them are under contract but I think it would be crazy for them to be doing this for free because not only would David not have a vlog without them but it would also be so exploitative on David’s side. I get that they may get more exposure and sponsors from being in the vlogs but that’s also not a substitute for actual money for their time. That’s why I assume that either Jeff was already under contract with David for being in the vlogs (especially as he was taking time away from his job to learn to skydive at this point) or that David asked him to sign one that would stop him from suing or placing blame on David in return for paying the medical bills and a settlement of some kind.

But if we assume none of them under any contract and that they are all free to leave whenever and talk about Jeff’s accident publicly, then why didn’t they? I don’t know about anyone else but if I watched one of my friends almost kill another one by sheer recklessness for vlog content, if I had to watch the whole accident as a real life bystander and run and get my friend’s lifeless body out of the lake, not only would I be fucking traumatised but I would probably never want to see the guy who almost killed my friend ever again. Like if that were me I would want David in prison for what he did, doesn’t matter what Jeff thinks.

This isn’t even the first time David has seriously injured one of his friends, he has a vlog where he talks about giving his childhood friend sepsis (or something to that affect) that stopped him playing sports, which were a big part of his life. David is joking around in that video so much as if him totally altering his friend’s life is so funny to him. Not to mention all the times he’s put vlog squad members in danger, they let Zane get so drunk that he broke his arm, David injured himself pretty badly juggling wine bottles, they even made another guy (who I think was a trained stuntman or something) jump off a house roof into a pool. Like this is not even the tenth time David has put his friends in a position to get grievously injured. But these people keep going back to him so I have to assume it’s because their under contract or they’re actually such terrible, money hungry people that they don’t care that he almost killed one of their friends. In which case fuck them all.
