TRIGGER WARNINGS: MISSING, DISAPPEARING, FEAR
It had been weeks since Virgil had last heard from Logan, well, since anyone had heard from Logan. The last thing he'd said to anyone was a quick goodbye before leaving to go camping and study the wildlife in the old back woods of their town, he was only supposed to be gone a week at most, and with him having finally been reported as missing a few days ago... people were starting to get worried. More specifically, Virgil was getting worried.
Virgil had known Logan for as long as he could remember, and when the nerd hadn't returned on the day that was scheduled Virgil had already known something was wrong. Most people seemed to shrug it off, saying it was his "late teenage rebellion in college", or that he'd "probably gotten too caught up in studies to notice", but Virgil knew him better. Logan never missed a date, a time, or anything scheduled and if he had to change that plan he made sure to let at least one other person know ahead of time. Not to mention, Logan had promised Virgil he'd come back fine, and Logan never broke a promise to Virgil, that's not even the ego talking, everyone knows that Logan never goes back on a Virgil promise. It had only ever happened once, and it had been Logan was sick and couldn't give through with a date he had promised Virgil for the sake of keeping the emo safe. So after a week passed that's when people started going to the police, Virgil hated it, and had begged them to go sooner, but everyone was sure it was just paranoia and nothing more.
When the search parties started, Virgil wasn't allowed to go. Everyone was aware of his anxiety and didn't want him to go into a fit if something happened. It had taken everything in Virgil to not go running into the woods on his own, but he knew that if he went missing the searching would stop. So he stayed, waiting, and asking anyone he could if they'd found anything.
Virgil had taken to staying in his room, never coming out unless there was news. Except there wasn't any. Ever. He didn't eat, he didn't sleep, he just sat in wait, worried for his best friend and lover for a week straight.
He finally got news on Saturday.
Virgil had barely even noticed the passage of time until his phone began to ring. He wasted no time as he snatched it up and pressed answer.
"Virgil?" An all too familiar voice spoke, and Virgil felt like he was going to cry. To wich he realized he did cry as a son broke through. It was Logan.
"L- Logan?" Virgil couldn't help but to ask. Scared that his brain was fooling him.
"Yes, I'm here Virgil." The man's voice softened, no doubt hearing Virgil's silent sniffles.
"I'm fine..." There seemed to be a hesitance in Logan's voice.
"Logan?" The emo asked, worried for his friend.
"... do you think you could meet me?" He asked it slowly, as if the question heald more weight then it should.
"Of course- yes!" Virgil stammered out, ignoring any hesitance in Logan's voice, because it was Logan, oh God it was Logan.
"Good, go into the woods. If you enter at the parking lot on Maple Street and keep heading North there should be a clearing." There was a beat. A moment where Logan was silent, and Virgil knew not to say anything. It was uncomfortable, and Virgil could tell that there was something Logan wasn't telling him. "Come alone." With those last words he hung up, and Virgil was alone to think about what they said.
However, there was no choice in going, he had to.

Virgil followed Logan's instructions a d was glad to find the clearing. He however, was disappointed to not see Logan there. Virgil was undeterred though, as he picked a tree and sat under it, waiting as he assumed that Logan just wasn't there yet.
It was only a few hours later when it started happening. At first Virgil thought it was an Earthquake, but the vibrations were to rhythmic and repeated.... not to mention the weird thumping sound that accompanied it. The emo only began to get more worried as they hot closer and closer, to the point that all the trees around him were shaking as if ready to fall.
It wasn't until a large shadow dwarfed him and the field did he realize that he needed to hide. For it wasn't just the shadow that scared him, but the literal giant that was casting it. Before he could spiral into a panic attack, Virgil stood and ran into the woods to hide. Unfortunately, this seemed to get the giant's attention, because the- what Virgil now knew were- footsteps started following him. Virgil barely had time to breathe as he ran, searching for something, anything to hide in.
Luck seemed to be on his side as he finally came across ditch that had been dug out by an old creek. Big enough for Virgil to fit inside, but small enough that the giant wouldn't be able to reach him. He didn't give it a second thought as he jumped in. Except he never made it into the ditch. Virgil was terrified to even look up as he was surrounded by warmth, and felt his stomach drop as he was lifted up. Virgil twisted himself so that he was laying on his back, but quickly regretted it as he was met with the terrifying sight of giant fingers curled around him, cupping his body like a caught bug.
When the hands stopped moving- oh God he was in someone's hands- Virgil finally took a moment to breathe, but it didn't last long as the finders above him unfurled, blinding him with a sudden light. It took Virgil's eyes a moment to adjust, but when they did his breath caught in his throat.
".... Virgil are you alright?" It was Logan. Above him. Holding him. Logan.
