♥️ TWA Tuesday...

The registry was too blurry to read on the original photo. Google Lens (that I usually trust) identified this as N93119 the Boeing 747-131 that became known as TWA Flight 800. Look it up.

TWA 800 is truly my Roman Empire.

I was a kid on Long Island when it went down and the way it dominated the news that summer permanently altered my brain chemistry, I think about it way more often than is logical. It is the accident that flipped a switch in me that turned on my obsession with aviation accidents that has now persisted for almost 30 years and probably always will. Mentour Pilot’s new explainer of the crash triggered fireworks in my brain so now I’m gonna reread the 341 page NTSB report on my day off.

That’s sad, I understand why. It’s just sad that it’s been taken down. This disaster has been one of my fascinations as well as the Swiss Air Flight 111.

Ok, so I feel like a weirdo- but I've been watching alot of crime/disaster documentaries on Netflix. (I love to have TV or music on while I draw.)

Here's the ones I put on yesterday, in order:

The Woman Who Wasn't There (Warning- concerns 9/11)

The Imposter (deals with a missing child)

911: In Plane Site (Promotes 9/11 Conspiracy Theories)

TWA Flight 800 (Again, deals with Conspiracy)

(Trigger Warning- 3/4 of these films deal with aviation disasters, specifically 9/11 and TWA 800.)

I recommend the ones where I've linked to the trailers. The first 2 are especially compelling. TWA Flight 800 is...it makes me think.

(In Plane Site, I say proceed with caution, especially considering the aim of the film and the subject in question.)
