Your post just made me smile. I worked at a thrift store for a good while, and I always made sure to put all the Marvel and DC and Pokémon stuff, etc, in the 'girls' section, just because it would all end up in the 'boys' section if I didn't, and that drove me utterly bonkers, so, yeah - I hear ya.
Aw, thanks! I get upset at the fact that almost all the licensed jackets we get are designated as ‘boys’ - so girls are left with Hello Kitty and Frozen.
The thing that really set me off a few months ago is when we got in a Power Rangers t-shirt and it only had 3 of them on there - Pink and Yellow were missing. I was going to get it for my cousin because she loves them but the two girls weren’t on the shirt because it was intended for boys. Thankfully, even the boys didn’t want it because it didn’t have all the Power Rangers on it.
It’s just so frustrating but I’m happy to know that I’m not alone in my little fight on the front lines of gendered marketing!
