-Paul Fleischman, Fireflies in 'Joyful Noise : Poems for Two Voices'
Denise Levertov, The Double Image; from 'Two Voices’
had to cut this in half and cut out the intro to get this under the limit for tumblr, but hello and welcome to me singing with myself!! this is "Two Voices, One Song" from Barbie and The Diamond Castle. harmonising/singing with myself is one of the things that got me through lockdown, and this song is just really cute and so easy to find the harmonies with, so here ya go! part 2 to follow
ps I didn't film my face because idm my face being in makeup looks, but singing is different lol, idk why
My Brain #1
Voice 1: You're such an idiot!
Voice 2: Well you're me so technically you're calling yourself an idiot.
Voice 1: *recalls the number of insults voice 2 had said to him*
Voice 1: You've just dug yourself a hole.
Prompt: Start
Just
How do I--
Where should I--
Okay, breathe
No pressure, no--
What am I doing?
Why did I think--
No! No, it’ll be alright
Just breathe and--
Okay, if I keep breathing,
That’s just hyperventilating
Definitely not okay
Okay?
Okay.
So how do I--
Where should I--
What do I even say?
This is supposed to be a lot easier
Is it?
It is.
Okay, just stop freaking out
No pressure, no pressure
No one’s watching
It’s just you
Just take the pen and
Go
two voices
a part of me sings with all the cosmic wonder that sparkles here
while the other’s destiny ties to human console, holding no more.
i want to be both, i can be both,
the hard part is to understand that all of this comes under one roof,
one soul,
not fragmented identities of mismatched poles,
but one umbrella,
the one that i both strongly and gently hold.
Denise Levertov, The Double Image; from 'Two Voices’
