Unlike Deranged hermit, liege of the hollows has a recorded price record of below fifty cents in 2013. That means there was a time that this card was true bulk. Did you purchase your copies when they were under a buck? If you did then you could probably sell them for ten dollars or more right now. Even so, the card was almost fifty bucks during the reserved list spikes of 2021. After the crash the card settled at about 5 dollars and it has not been true bulk since then. Possibly it will never be bulk again. Why? First, Mark Rosewater is a huge promoter for the squirrel creature type. On blogatog, Mark Rosewater even has a squirrel named Sally that functions as an avatar and answers questions. Bloomburrow is also going to be released at the end of the month so there is a lot of hype for the ten supported animal tribes in the set. Squirrel is one of those tribes and even got a commander deck that has a squirrel theme. There have also been a number of typal squirrel commanders so people are anxious to build different squirrel decks. Will liege of the hollows make the cut in these decks? I do not think the liege is an absolute staple in squirrel decks but flexing older reserved list cards in your deck is certainly a choice you can make. The squirrel cards I'm bloomburrow support a food archetype but many of the cards support tokens in general which could mean either food tokens or squirrel tokens. Liege of the hollows makes squirrel tokens so it fits the token theme of bloomburrow. However, liege of the hollows takes work. You need a sacrifice outlet so you can maximize the number of tokens you can make. It is not fun if your opponent destroys your liege when you have no available mana. It is even worse if they have a ton of open mana and make tokens using your card. I normally do not like double edged cards like this especially since squirrels do not have a strong sacrifice theme. Albeit, you can build a squirrel deck with a sac theme as food tokens need to be sacrificed to utilize. Both food decks and squirrel decks will be eating food after this set! Liege of the Hollows has a plethora of new commanders that this card can slot into. Hazel of the rootbloom and the odd acorn game could both include the liege and it would perform decently in either deck. These cards just got revealed alongside the squirrel commander deck so it is not a surprise that squirrel related cards are spiking. I expect the cards to settle after the hype for these new toys dies down. I would be remiss to not mention chatterfang or toski as other homes for liege of the hollows. Even in the bloomburrow main set you have a typal squirrel commander. I just saw a spoiler for a commander that gives all squirrels menace. Yes, attention is currently on these guys but how long will they stay in the spotlight? Is liege of the hollows a flash in the pan or will the price hold and go up even more?

To all those in fear

I don’t want to keep adding onto that really long post already, because that’s just not fun for ANYONE to scroll through. But if you want to read everything so you feel as if you are at least educated on what the whole matter is, that’s fine too.

But I saw some people who were stating that they had fears about not going to get a professional diagnosis via a doctor/therapist/psychiatrist/psychologist.

If you’re scared about professionals treating you different after you get a diagnosis, i.e. them no longer taking your physical ailments seriously due to you having a mental disorder, you have a bad doctor. That is a BAD doctor. A doctor needs to listen to their patients and needs to survey what a problem is before jumping on the “oh you have a disorder that alters your perception of reality, EHHH YOURE FINE.” That’s bad. You need a NEW doctor. It has nothing to do with you having a diagnosis on your medical history. That’s THEIR bad. That’s THEIR fault. You DESERVE to have that diagnosis.

If you’re scared about potential employers looking for your medical history and firing you for your mental disorder, that’s literally illegal. That is against Discrimination Laws. Your medical history is none of their concern and should never show up. If they go digging (your medical history is no where for them to find, it’s only for those with medical degrees to find, WHO actually require your consent to disclose that information between other medical professionals, you actually have to sign for them to do that) and they somehow find it, and they fire you, that is against the law. You don’t deserve some boss like that anyway. You deserve a better boss who won’t go snooping. That is not how the world should work. 

If you’re scared about now having a “label” slapped on you, as if that diagnosis is all you are, you aren’t. You will NEVER be Just Your Illness. That sort of encouragement is passed around on this site amongst hundreds of suggestion blogs, self care blogs, self love blogs. You are NOT suddenly just what is written on your medical history and you never will be.

Getting a professional diagnosis is meant to benefit you. You cannot, absolutely cannot get the proper treatment by getting over the counter medication because it will not be there for you to ask for. Those medications are carefully picked out for you. There are certain dosages required for each individual case and your case may not be the same as the next person (regardless if you both have the same diagnosis). It could damage you. It could worsen you. You may accidentally kill yourself if you do not follow the dosage given by a medical practitioner. 

Getting a professional diagnosis is meant to help you get better. Schizo- disorders require having both medication and talk therapy. It’s a hand in hand project. You don’t get to pick between one or the other. You have to put the effort needed into helping yourself. Getting a diagnosis helps the therapists or psychiatrists or psychologists to understand your needs from the get go, and after talking to you over a period of time, they understand you more and more. YOU also understand yourself more and more. None of this is an easy fix. It is a long and stressful and strenuous journey. But it will not be like this forever.

I absoluTELY had the same fears when I first started this whole experience. I thought “Shit shit Im going to be on medication all my life. im fucked. I hate this. I dont want this anymore.” And maybe you will be. But don’t begin to think for a moment that this means you are a lesser person anymore. You’re no different than the diabetic who needs insulin. You are lacking chemicals in your brain or in your body and you need extra help to obtain it. That’s all there is. Yes. I am not denying there is an absolutely horrible stigma surrounding mental illness. And for schizophrenia/and others, it’s pretty bad too. I am not denying that there will be people out there who will discriminate against you. And what you need to do is remove yourself from those people (if they are jobs, teachers, even family members) because you do not deserve that. You deserve help. Much like the amputee who may require prosthetic. Much like the diabetic who needs insulin. Much like the person who has a fever and needs some medication to ease the suffering. It boils down to you require some aid and you deserve it. Please do not give into the fear mongering of “Yeah its terrible out there....And you should hide from it.” Because that will only perpetuate the idea that you’re SUPPOSED to be ashamed of this. You’re SUPPOSED to be ashamed of yourself. I promise you, remaining quiet will never benefit you or others. Please speak out. Please get the help you deserve. Please stand up and be an advocate for the people who feel they can’t be. It will ALWAYS be up to you and you alone on helping yourself. And you may be surprised that you are helping others simply by telling your story.

Do you see the art on this guy? Marjhan is huge. That whale looks miniscule compared to this titanic beast and that is accurately reflected in the power and toughness. An 8/8 is huge especially in the older days of the game but even today that is a stat line to be feared. Of course, this card had to have restrictions especially since blue does not typically get cards with base power and toughness above its mana value without a drawback. In fact, this card has many limitations. First, it has islandhome which is an outdated keyword that they used to put on a bunch of aquatic creatures. The new blue moon merfolk in modern horizons 3 can ensure all your opponents have islands and if you are playing blue you should have an island but sometimes it will come up. If you manage to get Marjhan to attack then it will not untap during the next turn. It does have an interesting ability toi get around that though. You can sac a creature at upkeep which means that this card is a very limited sacrifice engine in mono blue. The card shatters the color pie with the other ability by dealing damage to creatures. The cost is enormous but it is there in a pinch. I, often forget, how much direct damage blue had at the start of the game. This is another all star in the mono blue burn deck as a potential finisher. Obviously, that is just a meme deck but it could be fun. The card is not good enough in the modern era as anything unique it could do in mono blue can be done by an artifact in a more efficient way. Perhaps we should hold out to the serpent or sea creature typal support that could show up in the future but I wouldn't hold my breathe. I wouldn't want you to take a bath with this serpent as I do not have hope for the future. It is big but there are so many colorless eldrazi that size doesn't matter. In terms of price, you can get one for less than a dollar and this card only spiked in early 2021 alongside almost every reserved list bulk card. Five bucks might be as high as it ever gets barring a huge buyout attempt. It quickly returned to bulk and I believe it will stay bulk for the foreseeable future.

If you're planning on building a Treefolk deck, you're going to want Sapling Nursery. There are currently only two Treefolk creatures in Standard. Lorwyn Eclipsed will add seven more.

Of course, you could use creatures with changeling to help you get the seven lands or Treefolk you need for Tend the Sprigs.

I am glad, though, that Sapling Nursery has Affinity for Forests, as well.

I wish we could get a set that has Treefolk and Dryads together. Maybe whenever Wrenn returns.

Oh, and I'm constantly catching myself calling the enchantment Saproling Nursery. 😜
