Coming back to old habits. Nice to use ink and paper again.
Wow I haven't posted any artwork in a really long time! So here's a project I've been working on for a few months now. I originally started out by doing 25 Type Drawings of classic Marvel comic book heroes that are 2 inches by 2 inches. But then I took it even further and did 25 Type Drawings of classic Marvel comic book villains that are also 2 inches by 2 inches. This has been such a great and challenging project! I feel like I've really learned so much about the characters. For those unfamiliar with my artwork, I do these drawings called Type Drawings. I literally draw with typography. For these Marvel comic book themed pieces I used the character biography to make up the likeness of the character. Then I use watercolor to really bring the drawings to life.
Check out my new Type Drawing!…it’s THOR! First off I have to say that I love Love LOVE classic comic illustrations and I also love Marvel comics. Thor is one of my favorite comic characters. I love the idea of using mythology to create this amazing superhero who is also Norse god. So cool!
But back to my type drawing. I used the history and creation story of the character Thor for the words. It was fun to read the history of how Stan Lee came up with this character. I have the before watercolor and after watercolor pics to show for this one. I’m definitely going to have do the rest of the Avengers.
It’s finished! I’m so excited that I finished my beach themed type drawing! It’s not framed yet but the color has been added and I’m so in love with the final piece. This was a fun piece to do and it was worth the time put into it. For those who haven't seen my other posts or who don't know and are new to my art, I used the lyrics to the Beach Boys' music to create this piece.
This is my version of the Burrow, home of the beloved Weasley family in Harry Potter. The Burrow to me sounds like a wonderfully comfortable home to live in. Ron makes the statement "It's not much, but it's home", when Harry arrives there for the first time. I think that this is a huge understatement. The Burrow has more personality than any other home in the books. I love the Weasley's so much because they in a way remind me of my tight knit family. I used the chapter in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets titled The Burrow for the words for this piece. I chose that chapter not only because of the title but because that is where the house is described to us.
