[ needed: obligatory gossip girl inspired group of friends ]
spotted on the upper east side: a clique of trust fund kids with more money than they would ever know what to do with. they’re a tight-knit group of friends who’ve known each other for years -- they grew up together in the same social circles, which is to say the upper class of new york. they party on yachts and in the back of limousines, vacation together, some might have even dated or hooked up with each other.
tldr; a group of spoiled rotten individuals between the ages of 27-31 who still hang out with each other and throw lavish parties. they’re family and stick by each other through all of the drama.
there’s currently five spots, but i’m open to expanding this! personalities and dynamics can be modeled after the characters but absolutely do not have to be. would appreciate if not all of them were white. pls give my girl her second family ok ty<333 contact me either here or on discord (realslimsadie#0158) LUV YA

[ needed: the astor calloway family]
succession meets dynasty
it’s hard to think about new york city without thinking of the astor calloway family, really. rex’s great-grandfather founded the family dynasty in real estate and construction called astor industries, inc. in the late 19th century, and since then it has expanded into a multi-billion conglomerate with entities interested in real estate development, construction, hospitality, and entertainment. when reginald astor retired in the late ‘80s, his son rex became the company’s majority shareholder, ceo, and president. the firm today owns and operates multiple properties across the world, including hotels, restaurants and the likes.
the astor calloway’s present a united front, the business and keeping the family name untarnished being the common goal, as has been instilled into them from birth. however, scandals are highly likely, and paying people off to keep quiet about it even more. what goes on behind closed doors – now that’s another thing entirely.
the kids were raised by nannies for the most part, with nicole never being the picture-perfect doting mother, and rex way too preoccupied with the company although he loves his family dearly. which is why he orders them all to the home located on the upper east side every single friday night for family dinners.
one way or another, they’re likely to be involved in the family business, but that isn’t a must by any means (ideally at least one other sib works at astor industries pretty high up and is set to take over the company at some point). i would love for there to be 2 more sisters and one brother. age wise i’ve given a general range, but twins could fit in anywhere! i’m also open to cousins and the like (maybe throw in an illegitimate child that nobody knows about?) if someone wanted to snag the parents, let me know! in general, if you got any questions, either hit me up on discord (realslimsadie#0158) or here on tumblr!<3

⚠️potentially triggering content involved with these this plot: alcoholism, classism, death of a peer (future event), murder (accidental and premeditated), drug use, potential overdose (history), potential suicide attempt (history).
this plot isn’t for the faint of heart. the whole idea was to build something tangible and then tear it apart; including─but not necessarily beginning with─one of them being so hurt, so viciously wronged by another, that the only feasible option will be to remove him from the equation and bury him deep beneath an oak tree so he can never hurt anyone again.
sandbox love never dies.
a very specific and imperfect friend group cast in the roles of the bastard (tw!), the bleeding heart, the damaged (tw!), the golden, the grim, the ingénue, the temptress (tw!), and the wild card. they’ve been together since any of them can remember. spent their whole lives dreaming about trying to get out of magnolia, but instead only found tragedies that bind them to each other. usually, tragedies of their own making. these archetypes are how other people see them or they may see each other, but it’s not necessarily exactly who they are at their core. i’m just giving some general descriptions and if anyone would like them, they can take it and develop from there.
there’s also going to be a shared google doc with more in-depth information because i love an extensive, buildable group plot. the relationships between these characters as well as significant points in their history and future events will be there. and of course plenty of space for us to to expand on the blurbs below. there are some pre-set relationships (the bastard and the grim are cousins, the bleeding heart has been pining for the damaged for ages, etc.), but i’d like to leave a lot of them open so we can form them to characters!
the faces are open, diversity obv welcome and encouraged, but ages should be between 34-36 with the grim being the eldest. i’d also like them to have solid connections! they’re pretty much their own clique of friends and their backstories will have to make sense in order for this to work. i.e. most of them know each other through family, but some may from school, etc. none of them are or will be new to town (the exception being maybe the bleeding heart once upon a time was new to the group, but that would have been ages ago), and save for vacations or college, none of them have ever truly left magnolia. i'd prefer if they were mostly human, but a couple with alt species could definitely make things more interesting!
a tiny note regarding genders and orientations: the golden, grim, and bastard are males/masc identifying; the temptress and ingénue are female/fem identifying; and the bleeding heart, damaged, and wild card can be whichever you choose. the only orientation preferences i have are that the bastard must have some attraction to women/fem identifying peoples (as he’s been perusing the temptress and eventually does attack her which is the catalyst for his demise), and that the ingénue has some toward men since she is married (or engaged) to ashley who is a cishet male.
the roles.
the bastard.
the bleeding heart.
○ first last. age, portrayal, available.
another incorrigible winthrope that thinks he’s untouchable and indestructible. and damn it if he hasn’t more than earned his title as the bastard. for some reason he thinks he can do whatever he likes and scoffs at the consequences. partially because he’s such a pain in the ass that people expect his horrid behavior, but also because he knows that his big cousin [the grim] will clean up whatever mess that he makes, the henry to his bunny. so he says inappropriate things, makes irresponsible advances, and takes things that don’t belong to him because, frankly, no one has stopped him. yet.
* keep in mind that the plan is for this character to eventually die. for now, we get drama and chaos. i'd love if eventually he became a ghost bc hauntings are amazing and would be a fab addition to the insanity that is this plot. alternatively, if he survived and no one knew and came back later to blackmail his friends, i wouldn’t be too mad at that either jsjs 👀
the damaged.
○ first last. age, portrayal, available.
the creative one. probably a writer or a poet or someone who romanticizes the ugly and glorifies the mundane as beautiful. probably explains why s/he’s been carrying a torch for [the damaged] for quite some time, whether or not they’ve noticed. one day when they’re old and half of them are dead and gone, the bleeding heart will be the one who tells their stories. probably a little embellished, but they’ll make them worthwhile. hell, probably even a few secrets, too, since (like [the grim]) they pay a lot more attention than you think they are.
the golden.
○ first last. age, portrayal, reserved for leah.
unimaginably beautiful and so very broken. no one knows exactly where their issues stem from, but it isn’t like they’re lacking any single reason to explain the way they are. some people are just born destined for destruction and there's little anyone else can do about it. that's probably why they’re the one the group takes turns keeping an eye on (other than [the bastard], who is always in trouble) because they’re always walking the edge of life and death; be it a suicide attempt, overdose, some mixture of both, or something else completely. unaware of exactly how special they are, no matter how many times [the bleeding hearts] alludes to it.
the grim.
○ anders connelly. 36, luke grimes, dayton.
wouldn’t be a proper friend group without the golden boy. popular, texan-born, jock-type who’ll never live down the name he gained when he valiantly led his team to victory some twenty years ago. but unlike some of the players who are now bitter middle-aged men who spend their nights inebriated, telling exaggerated stories about the good old days, [the golden] didn’t peak in high school. he’s kind and courteous and absolutely dreamy. which is probably why he’s still adored so much to this day; as a hero and living legend to the lovers of the game, as well as the ones gifting sweets (old secret family recipes, of course) hoping to finally tie him down and get that coveted rock on their finger. something which his best friend [the grim], never lets him live down. every single time a pretty lady (or fella, you tell me) stops him in the street with mooneyes.
the ingénue.
○ ashley winthrope. 36, jai courtney. kaiser.
in passing [the grim] seems like a reserved, old fashioned gentleman, but it doesn’t take too hard a look to notice that something just isn’t quite right about him. not that anyone has any evidence on the contrary; always polite, well-mannered, and down to earth. [the grim] and [the golden] spent their lives practically attached at the hip, and in doing so, means he has just as many public titles from his youth. but in comparison to some of the vibrant personalities in this group, [the grim] is lacking. he’s more the strong, silent type. perhaps, sometimes, just a bit too quiet, stares a little too intently. been in love with the same girl since he was a teenager and if someone like [the ingénue] can see the good in him, then i guess he must be all the things he presents as that sound so lovely on paper.
* ashley is a dreamthing, created by his mother out of sheer grief after the loss of her boy (the original ashley) many years ago. whether or not the winthrope family knows their matriarch is a dreamwalker is up for debate, but when she pulled him out of the fade, he was missing a few key pieces.
the temptress.
○ carina ortiz. 35, diane guerrero, morg.
like her husband/fiancé [the grim] who everyone has come to know as a potential threat, [the ingénue] isn’t exactly all that meets the eye. yes, it’s true that she is sweet and lovable and vulnerable in her pretty dresses and big, wholehearted smiles that you can feel in your soul. a tangy realness, that seeps from her pores and sticks to everything it touches like the candied fingers of a child. perfectly darling as she looks up at you through her big, full lashes. only, not always. sometimes, she likes to sit back and watch the snakes slither by, unafraid to poke them with sticks because the mongoose that lives beneath the porch loves her most.
* this character will likely have a separate request since she’s ashley’s love interest. and their story isn’t all rainbows and sunshine, as much as it is loving something so much you start to hate it. very much romanticizing all consuming toxic relationships that seem perfect to outside world bc i’m grossss. but if anyone’s interested, hmu?
the wild card.
○ valeria navarro. 34, emeraude toubia, sage.
best friend to [the ingénue] and a walking reputation. she does what she wants, when she wants, and with whomever she so chooses. and if you don’t like that, well, that’s just too damn bad, innit sugar? absolutely the type of girl rockstars write love songs about, our very own jolene in the flesh, but always the one who got away. she exudes confidence, fearlessness, and that type of thing draws attention of all kinds. [the bastard]’s in particular, who’s been after her since they were kids, even though he never really stood a chance. not with [the golden] securing that slot, mostly unbeknownst to their friends.
○ first last. age, portrayal, available.
beep beep, richie. when it comes to [the wild card] you never really know what they’re going to do or say at any given moment, but as unpredictable as they are, you can almost guarantee a punchline is soon to follow. they’ve never been one to take things too seriously (at least on the outside, where people can see), if at all, and can always find a way to make light of an otherwise dastardly situation. while they’re not exactly mean and most of their jokes are self-deprecating, there are just as many moments that make people stop in their tracks. a shock to which [the wild card] will reply, too soon? with all of that said, they’re no coward. often the one standing side by side [the golden] and [the grim] when the situation calls for it. and while everyone else is waiting to see who’ll jump first, [the wild card] is often already mid-leap.
