What are the Different Types of Witches? As opposed to what superstitious and mainstream society would lead you to, there are so many types of witches out

Roots of Your Craft - Day 11
What kind of witch do you believe you will become?
Maybe this sounds like a cheesy cop-out, but I believe I’ll become the witch that I’m meant to become.
I’ve still got a lot of trial-and-error to go through before I can even say with any degree of certainty what kind of witch I am now. Yes, I’ve put a load of “types” on my profile, but that’s more just covering all the bases of what I want to be rather than what I am yet. The only label that matters for me right now is “beginner”!
My journey as a witch has still only just started. So, there’s a lot yet to come that will influence the kind of witch I am. When I move in with my boyfriend, for example, and am no longer living alone - the way I practice and what I practice is bound to change. In turn, that will influence and change the kind of witch I become.
Modern Witchcrafts and It’s Many Labels
When I first made my tumblr and started my witchcraft blog, I learned something I never knew about modern witchcraft before. There is so many different kinds of “Witch”. I used to just think that there were “witches” and “non-witches”. But we witches further label ourselves into subcategories of witch like: Kitchen Witch, Eclectic Witch, Solitary Witch, Storm Witch, Green Witch, Cosmic Witch, Tech(?) Witch, Death Witch, and the list goes on. As a baby witch (oh look, another label), I felt this insane need to decide on what type of witch I was early on, and stick to it. But now that I’m older, I just call myself a witch. I still use elements from all of the other kinds and types of witchcraft in my craft, but I don’t feel this NEED for all of those other labels, mostly because I don’t want to put myself or my craft in a box. I want to learn and grow and have my craft change as I do, and tbh my witch labels list was getting a little long and ridiculous.
So my advice to new witches:
1. Learn a little about all the different types of witchcraft, wether you plan to practice it or not!
2. Don’t label feel like you HAVE to declare what type of witch you are, especially early on while you are just discovering witchcraft.
3. Don’t use any of these labels to minimize or take credibility away from someone else’s craft. All witches are valid, and all crafts are valid, even if it’s not like yours.
TFW tomorrow is a full moon and Friday the 13th and I feel like I should plan a ritual or a spell or something but I've got nothing planned oof
to my few followers:
“____” Witch or “____” Witchcraft are not limiting descriptions
although some practitioners definitely adhere to a specific description of their practice -- ex. sea witch or green witchcraft -- most of the terms are used to categorize types of practices on tumblr so you can find similar practices easily
there’s always exceptions, like hedgewitch which has a history and definition, but most of the descriptors of “____” Witch/craft are loose
you don’t have to choose a specific “____” Witch/craft title to stick to, though it may help you find community
Did you know its okay to change your witchcraft path?
You are not tied to one path or type of witchcraft, you can follow multiple ones at the same time. If you decide on one path and then realise its not for you, you can change - switch it up! Even if you’re committed to one path you can still explore others. Its okay! Its okay to not know what path you should choose and its okay not to want to choose any path at all. Its okay to call yourself a certain type of witch no matter how long you have been practicing. It’s all good sisters! Witchcraft is based on energy. Energy is always changing and evolving and should we!
