On a serious note, that’s easily one of my favourite ifs ever. I love the worldbuilding, the characters, and especially the MC. Mine is just a little guy crying 24/7 LMAO. Also, he’s known Z for like 0 seconds, but he’d already kill for him (though helping the twins reconcile would probably suit him better).

And I’m not sure if this is a bug or just something that was overlooked, but I noticed that even if you choose a shorter height, sometimes you’re still treated as being similar in height to U. You can also still “choose” your height when they’re carrying you at the beginning.

Going murderhobo on Z's behalf would be vastly more entertaining (for me, haha) but helping the twins reconcile is a noble aspiration. Though, whether their relationship is beyond saving... that's something to be discovered as the game progresses.

Height and weight are actually different.

So when U carries / supports you, you're choosing your weight, not your height! That confused a few players when the game first launched so I will be double-checking the phrasing in that passage.

As far as the height reading similar to U sometimes when it shouldn't, this is probably both a bug AND overlooked on my part - adding the height variable a week before Chapter 2 was released into the wild may not have been the smartest decision lol, but I just really wanted to have it working and in the game!

So I appreciate this message a lot and have made a note of this for a patch in (hopefully) the next few days!

There he went again. A sight all too familiar, even years later. Lucien dressed in black leather, strapping weapons to his broad chest. A volunteer being sent to the Continent for a rescue mission against Koschei—to do the ugly, dirty work no one else was willing to do. A suicide mission. As formidable as he was dressed, he looked as willing and determined as a male with a noose tied around his neck at the gallows.

“Why are you doing this to me?” Elain asked from the top of the stairs, a hand gripping the bannister with ghostly knuckles.

“I’m not doing anything to you,” he answered curtly, shoving a dagger into his satchel. “I cannot do anything to someone who feels nothing for me.”

Elain clenched her teeth. She knew he lied. She knew he did this because he had given up on her.

“It has been several years. You have no cared. You have not faltered. You have not tried. You have felt nothing.”

“That is not true,” she called out, the heat of anger rising in her cheeks. “I may not have shown you what you wanted, but I trusted you.”

He furrowed his brows.

“Trusted, Lady?”

“I trusted you,” she repeated again, as if it all made perfect sense. “I trusted you to wait for me. Until I was ready.”

Lucien tensed, stumbling back slightly. As if she had untethered his reality and world with a single sentence.

“Then come down. And ask me what it is you really want.”

Elain’s foot hovered over the step. Her heart beat wildly as she made the decision to take a full step—further past than the half-step she had been to afraid to take those years ago.

And she asked him precisely what she had never been able to do before.
