@hauntedtrainertwins in response to this
There had been nothing out of the usual happening today. Her Pokemon were being well behaved; she hadn’t had to break up any spats. Nightmare was being somewhat anti-social, which was not unusual. He was prone to having days where he refused to let her out of his sight, only to later have a day where he would watch her from a distance. She was used to it, having learned that there was little need to worry. She could just as easily blame the sour memories he held from before she had become his trainer. She knew he had been abused in one way or another. Figuring out exactly what had transpired, however, was something more difficult.
Having found that there was a lot less work to be done today thanks to good weather and the Pokemon being generally sweet by helping her to keep her land and crop area clean of trash and weeds, she had decided to go for a walk. Not to far. Just out along the far edge of her property, into the woods. She owned a small portion of the woodland and had free claim to pretty much anything that grew in that area. Seeing as few people would go into those woods for fear of being attacked by the ‘shadow monster’, she had a lot of access to plants and other such bounties of nature simply because no on was heading there to claim it. Most days she would go in sporting a few quick-balls and some treats, in hopes of bringing home a new companion.
Usually she would catch a Pokemon and bring it home, then give it a few days to decide if it would be happy there or not. Then it was just as simple as removing the chip from them so that they could be released. She had custom designed balls, as it were. Chips were automatically planted inside Pokemon upon capture, which prevented others from stealing them from her. It was hard to steal a Pokemon when it could only go into a specific ball. When a Pokemon was particularly reluctant to be captured in any sense of the word, she release them but left the chip in place, just to assure that they could never be successfully removed from the wild.
Because she rarely brought Pokemon out to battle, she rarely came home with anything that she hadn’t succeeded in capturing on the first throw. So she had a relatively simple but extremely flawed plan when she happened to spot a long tail protruding from some foliage. She could partially recognize the species based upon the look; her immediate thought being that she was seeing things. That was not a native Pokemon species. Had someone released it? She threw the ball without saying a word, not knowing how quickly the creature would escape if she happened to let it know that she was there.
