This is really outrageous behavior of Amazon. Sending perfectly good items that could be donated to a waste recycling center??? I'm glad I don't have an Amazon account and I don't plan on ever having one, especially after seeing this. This is incredibly wasteful and harmful for the environment. Shop local whenever you can and stop buying on Amazon.

So good, we bought it twice
This is the second of the Huion Graphics Tablets bought by me. The first was bought for my son in October, but used immediately by my daughter who is doing a Graphics GCSE. It was different to the one she uses at school, so it took some getting used to, but once she knew what she was doing, it was great. This second, white one was bought for my daughter and used on the main family iMac. She no longer has to stay at school until late to use the school tablets. We've even used it as a mouse pointer when our iMac mouse tablet wasn't working.

** This is from my review for the Huion H58L, which is identical to this tablet but with 6 extra express buttons for about $10 more. First off, this thing looks and behaves like it costs at least twice what I paid for it (less than $60 with prime free shipping). But, to get it to work correctly on a PC, make sure you install the Huion drivers from the CD or website before you plug in the tablet for the first time! Otherwise, Windows update will download annoying drivers that can interfere with the pen reading correctly. Additionally, Windows 7 users should disable Tablet PC Input Panel, Flicks, press-and-hold, and dynamic feedback. These are all useless UI features that can and will interfere with drawing. If you google "viziblr guide wacom windows 7," you will find a nice walkthrough of how to do all this-- it takes about 5 minutes to make these settings and then you're ready to draw. The tablet came securely packed in brown cardboard packaging (similar to the packaging style of dell computers). Included were a driver CD, standard to mini USB cable, and pen stand. **Here's a secret: if you pull the bottom off the pen stand, you'll find that there are 4 replacement pen nibs included inside. The writing area is 5" by 8", which fits 16x10 aspect ratio monitors and is pretty close to 16x9 monitors, making it a good choice for those using newer laptop screens and monitors. Additionally, the driver for this tablet allows you to lock the active area of the tablet to the screen ratio, so that your drawing movements scale in proportion to what's on the screen. Or, you can specify whatever active area you want, such as using only half of the tablet for browsing so you don't have to move your hand as much. The tablet itself is 1 cm thick and close to the size of a sheet of A4 paper, and feels solid but lightweight. The pen is about the weight (with battery) of a nice metal fountain pen, and close to the dimensions (maybe a hair fatter) of a Pilot G2 gel pen. It feels sturdy and balanced in the hand, and has a nice rubber grip. There is no eraser function on the back of the pen like on the Wacom tablets. Instead, the button on the back is an On/Off toggle, and you have to remember to manually turn off the pen when you are done (no auto-off feature). It takes a single AAA battery, and battery life seems to be very long. There are no tilt-detection or touch features like on the Wacom Intuous line of tablets-- that is, the tablet responds only to the pen, not your fingers. The pen tip is very responsive and glides smoothly on the writing surface. The surface is a fine matte texture, and gives a feedback like drawing on very fine paper with a smooth HB pencil. The pen tip is a bit stiff. Testing the pressure readout using the driver, I found it easy to access the first approx 1800 levels of pressure sensitivity, but you have to press ridiculously hard to make use of the remaining 300 or so pressure sensitivity levels, so effectively the useable pressure sensitivity is closer to 1800 than 2048. Nonetheless, this was plenty enough to make controlled expressive lines in Corel Painter and Adobe Photoshop. (Remember to calibrate your drawing program for pressure sensitivity before using any graphics tablet.) Reading height (distance in which the tablet can detect the pen) is a little over half-inch. Aside from lack of bells and whistles like eraser and tilt-detection (frankly, these are disposable features in my opinion), this tablet functions as well as the $300 Intuos equivalent. It's a great option for someone who is just getting started with tablet drawing or on a budget. If you are insistent on buying a Wacom tablet, the bamboo and small intuos are in the $70 price range. However, these tablets have a much smaller drawing area than this one, which will make your drawing less precise. As mentioned above, there is an identical version of this tablet with 6 programmable buttons (Huion H58L). They also make a wireless version of the 580 (W58) and one with a rechargeable pen (K58). These two models cost about $30-50 more (on Amazon).

Awesome inexpensive graphics tablet
I had been wanting a graphics tab for a while, but since I am no professional and I don't consistently use Photoshop at work, I didn't want to shell out $150 for one. So I was glad to find this one that had good reviews, and they have turned out to be accurate so far. However, one note to buyers: to install the tablet, you should use the CD FIRST! Do NOT plug in the tablet and then try to install, either from CD or from online drivers. I normally use online drivers for everything - they're the most up-to-date, right? But you have to install from the CD, then reboot, then plug in the tablet, and voila, everything works as expected. The settings are pretty easy to navigate and the pen and tablet work fine (although I still need way more practice with it). Looking forward to honing my skills so I can really make use of the capabilities!
