I'm a finalist for Young Comics Laureate
I've been nominated for Young Comics Laureate! It's a new role that would really expand my horizons. The pages itself has a bio for me but it was cut down from what I would like to fully say. I love comics, if you've listened to my podcast interviews or really just spent time with me you know that. I think of comics as a truly wonderful medium that has the power to do a great deal.
I want to represent my community being autistic I feel this role would help me advocate for autistic people in a way that I feel is needed. I am a trans-person, those of you who are from Dundee might have seen me speak at protests about this and I hope that this role would help me to help others in this community.
Again those who are Dundee based might have seen me at the weekly Palestine protests. I am already planning on leveraging my practice as a storyteller to give the Palestinians in my community a platform, this role would allow me to expand that and perhaps bring other artists on this project.
I am also a comics creator and DONT FOLD PRESS was launched to be the change I want to see in that field. I love the people who make comics and I think that we have so much room to grow. I want that to happen and with this role I think I could do that.
Everyone who is nominated deserves to be on that list. I believe that genuinely. I think that no matter what this role will be good. I hope that I can be the one to guide that though and I hope that you have faith in me to do that.
