Theres a lot of people out there that think sanemi & giyu never work out, and I agree to an extent. And heres why;
Theyre both extremely complex characters, Shinazugawa masking his kindness/insecurity with anger and ego, Tomioka simply not wanting anything to do with anyone, because he’s scared. Scared of losing someone if he gets too close. Just like what happened with Sabito, that was his best friend and we know this.
Im actually quite grateful the author didn’t make them canon, because it would’ve taken away from the ENTIRE plot if Demon Slayer and would’ve turned into some tragic BL story. THATS HOW COMPLICATED IT WOULD BE !! They both suck at communicating, from my knowledge have never had any experience with relationships, (aside from Sanemi taking a liking to Kanae, but im not sure if thats canon so dont mark my words.) It would take SO MUCH for the both of them to crack JUST TO TALK TO THE OTHER !! NOT EVEN ROMANTICALLY. I think they’re by far the most complicated ship i’ve personally come across, and ive seen some complicated characters… but its just the fact that they have no connection, theyre both so closed off and the fact that they aren’t really shown to be interacting, aside from that one episode/episodes (its been a while, i have to rewatch Demon Slayer so bear with me💔)
I’m thinking of writing a fic based off of their complexity and just how they’d both adapt to each other and grow as human beings, but with the help of the other. It’s gonna be a long one & I’m definitely not that skilled when it comes to writing but I hope it’ll help people understand them better, and my interpretation on if they were to become canon !!!
