A hammering knock jolted Sam from sleep and his mother’s voice said, “You boys need to get out of bed and get downstairs right quick if you expect to get any breakfast before the kids give up on you and start opening their presents!”

Sam blinked in confusion, because he was pretty sure Bucky had not been in his bed when he went to sleep last night, and it was a narrow bed for only one full-grown man, never mind two, especially the way Bucky always spread out in his sleep, so he shoved at Bucky’s arm where it was wrapped firmly across Sam’s torso and said, “Hey, what happened to keeping up appearances and sleeping on the couch while we’re at my mom’s for the holiday?”

Bucky grunted and buried his face deeper into the warm hollow between Sam’s shoulder and the mattress, obviously making his stand on the whole sleep-vs-breakfast issue, and mumbled, “Decided appearances could go to hell when your nieces both screamed and jumped on me at 4:30.”
