Hej, hej. I tried to crawl out of my writers block hole. And turning my notes and snippets into the next chapter. Instead of just trying to write one shots, I think I have to try and battle it head on with the next chapter as well.

Chapter 80: You can’t trick your brothers
Tech kneels beside the baby bathtub, sleeves rolled up as he gently tries to coax Orion into enjoying his bath. But Orion, fascinated by the foam and bubbles, giggles and splashes, paying little attention to his father's attempts to wash him. Tech smiles softly, his focus solely on his son's enjoyment. He dips a cloth into the warm water, careful not to get soap in Orion's eyes, and starts to wash him gently. But Orion's tiny hands reach for the bubbles, his laughter filling the room as he tries to catch them.
Finding joy in the simple pleasure of watching his son explore and play. Despite the challenges and uncertainties they face, moments like these remind him of the precious bond they share. He continues to bathe Orion, content in the warmth of their connection and the love that surrounds them.
A bit later Hunter walks up to brother and nephew. “Do you think we are all some sort of di’kuts? And that we are stupid to not realise it? Me or Echo, echo who was around them for longer than any of us…” Tech pauses in his gentle scrubbing of Orion's back, glancing up at Hunter with a mixture of surprise and apprehension. He sets the cloth aside, his expression shifting to one of guarded concern as he considers Hunter's words. Of course Hunter and his senses picked it up. Sure it was a matter of time. Even with Echo who knows how to spot it.
"Of course not, Hunter," Tech replies, his tone cautious yet sincere. "I respect your intelligence immensely." Hunter exhales heavily, his arms still crossed as he leans against the wall of the ship. He regards Tech with a steady gaze, his eyes betraying a hint of frustration tinged with understanding. "Then why do you insist on treating me like I'm clueless? Us like we are clueless?" Hunter's voice is calm but firm, his words cutting through the air with a sense of urgency.
Tech swallows, his mind racing as he searches for the right response. He knows he can't hide the truth from his brothers forever, but the fear of what might happen if his secret is revealed weighs heavily on him. "It's not about underestimating you all, Hunter," Tech begins, his voice measured. "It's about protecting Orion, and all of us, from potential consequences."
Hunter raises an eyebrow, his expression sceptical yet open to hearing Tech out. He uncrosses his arms, folding them loosely across his chest as he leans in closer to Tech. Trying to find the line between leader and big brother. "I get that, Tech," Hunter says, his tone softer now, tinged with empathy. "But keeping secrets from the squad only puts us all at risk. We're a team, and we need to trust each other. Like it could have been nice to know about Orion before you just appeared with him."
Tech nods slowly, his gaze dropping to Orion, who continues to play in the now slight murky water, oblivious to the weight of the conversation unfolding around him. He knows Hunter is right, but the thought of revealing Orion's abilities fills him with a sense of dread. "I understand, Hunter," Tech murmurs, his voice barely above a whisper. "I just... I don't know how to navigate this."
Hunter reaches out, placing a reassuring hand on Tech's shoulder. He offers a small, understanding smile, the lines of worry easing from his face. "We'll figure it out together, Tech," Hunter says, his voice warm with reassurance. "But we have to start by being honest with each other. No more secrets. Especially about Orion. We love that guy, and neither of us wants him taken away."
Tech meets Hunter's gaze, his resolve firming as he nods in agreement. He knows it won't be easy, but with the support of his brothers, he feels a glimmer of hope that they can face whatever challenges lie ahead, together. “I just wish I could tell her.” “I know Tech, and you can, soon enough. We just need to make sure the Kaminoans are off our feet” Hunter sighs, knowing it is easier said than done.

Reblogs are very welcome and I am open for feedback, as english is not my first language, so maybe my sentences may be weird sometimes, or I write a word wrong even with google, or I use a wrong word for an item.
Hey Miss Zoey love your work! Just curious I've been reading a lot of the Dad batch but what about Uncle batch? For instance if you had to babysit the nieces and nephews with one of the boys or Rex or Wolffe how do you think it would go?
I hope that you are having a restful weekend and all is well. 😁
Aloha!
Thanks! Love to read that 😊
The "Uncle Batch", huh? Doesn't ring as good as the other one, yet I think it's worth a shot 😁 I'd like to know about that too!
I'm assuming younger kids, not teens...
The Bad Batch HCs - The Uncle Batch
Hunter
He's the uncle with the sick knife tricks that the kids aren't supposed to copy. The uncle who knows all about wilderness survival and takes them camping. He teaches them about fishing, making campfires, setting up camp and picking mushrooms. He is great with his nephews and nieces, he has the calmness and patience to be a good role model, except for the knife thing, maybe. Hunter has a way of calming children when they are hurt or scared, his voice and calmness soothe them almost immediately.
Echo
Can be a gentle soul, but he is not afraid to be stricter when he sees fit, unlike most of his other brothers, he can definitely say "no" when he has to. This doesn't make him unpopular, though, he is the uncle to go to for advice, and he tells the funniest stories about his brothers. He also makes the best snacks when he is responsible for the food as a babysitter. He might be stricter than the rest, but he is also loving and patient. Echo is that uncle the kids want to have around when they are sick. Echo makes the best soup and has the softest voice when reading to his sick nephews and nieces.
Wrecker
The fun uncle, who constantly tells jokes, takes the kids to fairs and amusement parks. Wrecker knows a lot of funny games, boredom does not arise that quickly. He can hardly say "no" and most of the time the kids have a sugar shock when they are left alone with him, because Uncle Wrecker always has sweets with him. Of course, he likes to watch over the kids, and he protects them with his life if he has to. The kids adore him, he is so warm and lively, but also gentle, that goes down well with the kids.
Tech
The uncle who knows all the answers, well, most of them. He knows a lot, tells a lot, and often doesn't realize whether he's exciting or boring the children. But his inventiveness knows no bounds, he invents new games practically non-stop. He is good-natured and can hardly say no, but when it comes to the safety of the kids, he puts his foot down. Nephews and nieces like him because he always has an answer when they ask him something, he is attentive and patient and never gets tired of answering their questions. The kids learn from him, but in a way he also learns from the kids, especially in the interpersonal area. He learns to read their behavior, and at some point he knows before something happens that something is up.
Crosshair
He tells the best scary stories, mostly ones that aren't really suitable for the kids, but they hang on every word he says with fascination. He is the quiet, grumpy uncle who rarely comes out of his shell, yet is adored on all sides by his nephews and nieces and is not infrequently introduced as the cool uncle. Of course, Crosshair pretends to be annoyed by the clinginess when they cling to his limbs, but underneath the grumpy facade sits a proud uncle who enjoys the attention.
Quite possibly, he'll smugly say to his brother(s), "Your kids love me more than they love you."
Let me be a bit chldish... 69 hehe. Okay enough off that, though I feel hat everybody should take things less serious in the current world. Therfore Enjoy the next Chapter.

Chapter 69: Comfort item
As Tech's eyes snap open, panic surges through him when he realizes Orion isn't in his arms where he fell asleep. His heart races as he quickly scans the room, frantically searching for any sign of his son. The bunk feels strangely empty without Orion's presence beside him.
"Hunter!" Tech calls out urgently, his voice betraying his rising fear. "Have you seen Orion? Where is he?" Hunter, who had been nearby, immediately senses the urgency in Tech's voice. "He's right here," Hunter replies calmly, gesturing to where he's sitting with Orion nearby, the baby contentedly playing with Hunter's bandana while sitting in his uncle’s lap.
Relief floods through Tech as he sees Orion safe and sound, but the panic doesn't fully dissipate. He scrambles out of his bunk and rushes over to where Hunter and Orion are, gathering his son into his arms with a mixture of relief and worry. "Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you," Hunter says apologetically, noticing Tech's distressed expression. "He just woke up a little while ago. Seemed like he needed a change of scenery."
Tech nods gratefully, his heart still racing from the scare. "Thanks, Hunter," he says, his voice slightly shaky. "I appreciate you looking after him." With Orion safely back in his arms, Tech holds him close, feeling the weight of his son's presence reassuring him that everything is okay. As he settles back into his bunk, he holds Orion tightly, grateful for every precious moment they have together. Tech sinks back onto his bunk, cradling Orion against his chest as he tries to calm his racing heart. The scare has left him shaken, but seeing Orion safe and content in his arms brings a wave of relief washing over him.
"Are you okay?" Hunter asks, his voice laced with concern as he watches Tech with furrowed brows. Tech nods, still feeling the lingering effects of panic coursing through him. "Yeah, I'm fine," he replies, his voice slightly hoarse. "Just... had a moment there." Hunter gives him a sympathetic smile, understanding the weight of responsibility that comes with caring for a child, especially in their line of work. "He's a handful, that's for sure," Hunter remarks, gesturing to Orion, who's now happily babbling and reaching for Tech's goggles coughing softly.
Tech chuckles softly, feeling the tension slowly ebbing away as he focuses on Orion's adorable antics. "Yeah, but he's worth it," he says, his voice filled with love and affection for his son. As Tech settles completely back into his bunk even if just for a moment, he feels a sense of gratitude wash over him for the bond he shares with Orion and the support of his brothers. With Orion safely nestled in his arms, he knows that no matter what challenges they may face, they'll always have each other.
-----------
Tech gently tries to coax the bandana away from Orion, but the little one clings to it stubbornly, his tiny fingers wrapped tightly around the fabric. With a soft sigh, Tech decides not to push it, understanding that the bandana seems to be providing Orion with comfort. "Alright, Orion," Tech says softly, his tone gentle and reassuring. "You can hold onto it for now." He proceeds to carefully wash Orion, being extra gentle and attentive as he works, mindful of Orion's delicate state. Despite the earlier scare, Tech finds solace in the routine of caring for his son, the familiar tasks helping to ground him and soothe his frayed nerves. As he finishes cleaning Orion and dresses him in fresh clothes, Tech can't help but feel a swell of gratitude for his brothers, especially Hunter, whose presence and support have been invaluable during this challenging time. With Orion cleaned and settled, Tech holds him close, feeling a sense of warmth and contentment wash over him as he savours the quiet moment with his son and his brothers by his side. Burying his face for a moment in those soft brown locks, his heart still clenching feeling the heat radiate of his son. But this will get over.
Tech considers the options carefully as he prepares to feed Orion. He knows that solid foods can be more nutritious and help Orion develop his chewing and swallowing skills, but he also wants to ensure that Orion's stomach can handle it, especially considering his recent illness. After weighing the pros and cons, Tech decides to start with a combination of formula and a small amount of mashed fruits and vegetables instead of the purees. This way, Orion can still receive the nutrients he needs from the formula while being sick.
As he prepares the meal, Tech makes sure to mash the fruits or vegetables into a smooth consistency, ensuring that they are easy for Orion to digest. He also adds a little water to thin out the mixture, making it easier for Orion to swallow. Once everything is ready, Tech sits down with Orion and carefully offers him the spoonful of food, watching closely for any signs of discomfort or hesitation. As Orion eagerly opens his mouth and accepts the food, Tech can't help but feel a sense of pride and satisfaction, knowing that he's doing his best to provide for his son's needs.
Tech returns from getting his drink and finds Orion happily playing with his food, making a mess with the bandana Hunter gave him. Despite the mess, Tech can't help but smile at the sight of his son's antics. He knows that these moments are precious and fleeting, and he wants to cherish every one of them. Even if he just turn away for a few moments.
With a sigh, Tech gently takes the bandana away from Orion and wipes his hands and face clean. He then cleans up the spilled food, making sure to salvage what he can and discard the rest. As he cleans, Tech talks to Orion, reassuring him that it's okay and gently explaining that food is for eating, not playing. Once the mess is cleaned up and Orion is settled again, Tech sits back down with him and offers him another spoonful of food. This time, he keeps a closer eye on Orion, making sure he doesn't get too adventurous with his meal. Despite the little mishap, Tech is grateful for these moments with Orion, messy or not.
Tech watches Orion's reaction with a raised eyebrow, a mixture of confusion and curiosity crossing his features. He wonders what might have caused Orion to react this way to the washed bandana, which just moments ago he seemed so fond of. Gently, Tech retrieves the bandana from where Orion tossed it aside and holds it out to him again, trying to gauge his reaction. But Orion only pushes it away, his cries growing louder. Tech's concern deepens as he tries to soothe Orion, wondering if something about the bandana has upset him.
Unable to decipher Orion's distress, Tech decides to set the bandana aside for now, opting to focus on comforting his son instead. He holds Orion close, murmuring softly to him and rocking him gently until his cries begin to subside. As he holds Orion, Tech can't help but feel a pang of worry, hoping that whatever upset Orion can be resolved soon.
Later as father and son join the others, Orion despite being sick, leans over Tech’s arms reaching towards Hunter. Tech notices Orion's behaviour and glances at Hunter with a small smile. "Seems like someone wants to be with his favourite uncle," Hunter remarks grinning at the others, who all just roll their eyes, as Tech gently shifts Orion closer to Hunter. "He's been a bit fussy today, but he seems to calm down whenever he's near you."
Hunter chuckles softly, adjusting his hold on Orion to make him more comfortable. "Guess he just knows who to go to for comfort," he replies, running a hand soothingly over Orion's back. "He's a smart one, that's for sure." Tech nods in agreement, feeling grateful for Hunter's presence and the bond he shares with Orion. As they continue their conversation, Tech can't help but marvel at the way Orion seems to instinctively seek out comfort from his uncle, finding solace in their bond.
Orion, yet again moves around, trying to reach Hunter’s bandana. Hunter smiles fondly at Orion's antics, handing over the bandana without hesitation, not wanting Orion to tumble out of his arms. "Looks like he's determined to keep this one," he remarks, amused by Orion's attachment to the fabric.
But after just a few moments Orion leans now back towards Tech again, and Hunter hands him back. Tech sighs softly as he adjusts the bandana, so it does not twist around Orion’s head. "Seems like he's found another favourite," he says, gently stroking Orion's cheek with his free hand. "You've got quite the collection now, little trooper." Orion babbles happily, holding onto the bandana tightly as he settles in Tech's arms. Tech smiles down at him, feeling a rush of warmth at the sight of his son's content expression. As they continue their day, Tech makes a mental note to keep Hunter's bandana close, knowing it holds a special significance for Orion.
-------------
Tech's realization dawns with a mix of amusement and understanding as Orion rubs the bandana all over his face again and again while also gnawing on it. "Looks like he's got a keen sense of smell," he remarks to Hunter, nodding towards Orion. "He knows when something's not quite right, even with a stuffy nose." Hunter chuckles, selecting a fresh bandana from his locker, even if all are the same with various degree of wear and tear. "Guess I'll have to wear this one for a while longer," he says, tying it around his head securely. "Can't have little Orion upset over a change in scent."
Tech nods, watching as Orion continues to explore the fabric with curiosity. "Seems like he's got a strong attachment to it," he observes, marvelling at the simple yet profound connection Orion has formed with Hunter's bandana. As they carry on with their day, Tech makes a mental note to ensure Orion always has familiar scents around him, knowing how much comfort they bring to his son.

Chapter 49: Unwanted care
Orion, the curious and playful five-month-old, delighted in the discovery that throwing his toys over the bunk edge created interesting sounds. With newfound excitement, he gleefully grabbed his tiny playthings, testing the theory over and over again. Each time a toy sailed through the air and produced a distinctive noise upon landing, Orion's eyes sparkled with wonder.
Tech, observing his son's experimentation with a mix of amusement and pride, couldn't help but marvel at Orion's budding curiosity and motor skills. He sat nearby, occasionally offering encouraging smiles and gentle words as Orion continued his exploration of cause and effect. The bunk here on Kamino and on the Havoc Marauder transformed into a miniature playground, echoing with the joyful sounds of a baby's laughter and the clatter of toys meeting the floor. Orion's contagious joy and the playful atmosphere created a heart-warming scene, fostering a precious father-son moment amid the routine of their daily life of a clone.
Tech, recognizing the need for a safety barrier to prevent Orion from accidentally falling off the bunk, remembering the accident from Wrecker’s bunk, took a moment to devise a simple yet effective solution. Drawing from his technical expertise, he gathered some materials available as he has enough laying around in their barracks, one can always reuse even the tiniest thing, contemplating the design for the safety barrier. After a brief but focused period of assembly, Tech fashioned a lightweight and collapsible safety railing that could be easily attached to the side of the bunk here and in the ship. The barrier provided a protective boundary for Orion, ensuring he could explore and play on the bunk without the risk of accidental falls.
Tech, satisfied with his creation, tested the safety railing to confirm its stability and security. Once convinced of its effectiveness, he carefully installed it on his bunk. Now, with the safety measure in place, Tech could confidently leave Orion on the bunk, knowing that his son would be shielded from any potential mishaps. Not that he would ever leave him alone, especially on Kamino.
This practical solution reflected Tech's commitment to creating a safe and nurturing environment for Orion, showcasing the blend of his technical skills with the love and care he devoted to his role as a father. But Orion is not appreciating the care of his father right now.
Observing Orion's unease and reluctance toward the newly installed safety railing, Tech realized the need to address his son's concerns. Carefully, he approached Orion, kneeling down to his level and offering a reassuring presence. Tech spoke to Orion in a soothing tone, attempting to alleviate any fear or uncertainty. "Hey there, Orion. This railing is here to keep you safe. See, it's just like a barrier, so you won't accidentally fall off the bunk. It's designed to protect you." To make the experience more positive, Tech reached for one of Orion's favourite toys and placed it within his reach on the bunk, emphasizing that the railing was there to enable playtime without worry. He used gentle gestures and encouraging words, aiming to create a connection between the safety feature and enjoyable activities.
Tech's thoughtful approach aimed to gradually familiarize Orion with the new addition, turning it into a positive element in his environment. The caring father continued to interact with Orion, ensuring that the safety railing became an accepted part of their living space. But the little half clone had none of it, throwing his toys as hard as his body allows, nearly managing to hit his father’s face.
Tech, caught off guard by the unexpected toy toss, reacted quickly, raising an eyebrow at Orion's display of disapproval. Suppressing a chuckle, he retrieved the toy and examined it, feigning a serious expression. "Well, it seems the toy is not a fan of the railing either," Tech remarked in a playful tone, trying to turn the moment into a light-hearted interaction. He set the toy aside and focused on Orion, maintaining his calm demeanour.
"Alright, Orion, let's find a compromise. What if we make a game out of it? We can play with the toy together, and the railing will be like our special boundary. You throw the toy, and I'll catch it. What do you say?" Tech suggested, introducing an element of fun to help Orion associate the safety feature with an enjoyable activity. Tech's goal was to make the railing less intimidating for Orion by incorporating play and bonding into the experience. He awaited Orion's response, ready to adapt to his son's preferences while ensuring a secure environment. But Tech, understands that Orion is still too young to grasp the concept of playing catch, sighed softly, realizing that the introduction of the railing hadn't gone as smoothly as he hoped. He carefully picked up Orion, soothingly murmuring to him as he held his upset son close.
"It's alright, Orion. Change can be a bit overwhelming, I get it," Tech reassured him, gently rocking him in his arms. "Let's try something else, shall we?" Tech pondered for a moment, considering ways to make the environment more comfortable for Orion. He decided to remove the railing temporarily, intending to find a compromise that balanced safety and Orion's comfort. "Okay, buddy, let's give it another shot without the railing for now. We'll figure out a solution together," Tech said, adjusting the bunk to accommodate Orion's preference. As Tech worked to address Orion's concerns, he remained patient, recognizing that adapting to new surroundings could be challenging for an infant. The goal was to create a secure and welcoming space, ensuring that Orion felt at ease in his ever-changing environment on Kamino.
Tech, with a small smile, approached Hunter, gauging the situation. Hunter was laying in his bunk, eyes closed with headphones on, something he does to not overstimulate his enhanced senses. He carefully placed Orion between Hunter's side and arm, letting the little one feel the comforting presence of his uncle. As Orion happily smacked on Hunter's arms, Tech swiftly and discreetly installed the railing, hoping to find a balance that satisfied everyone. As Orion faced the inside of the bunk and not the room itself.
Hunter, surprised by the sudden change in atmosphere and the joyful company of Orion, took off his headphones and looked down at the little one. Orion, seemingly content in his new position, giggled and babbled, completely unaware of the adjustments made to his surroundings. Hunter slightly sitting up and leaning back, opens his mouth but closes it when he sees Tech adjusting the railing.
Tech gave Hunter an understanding nod, signalling that he had modified the bunk for Orion's comfort. Hunter, appreciating the thoughtful gesture, relaxed back into his bunk, watching over Orion as the little one continued to explore his immediate surroundings, now feeling secure with the presence of both Tech and Hunter. The trio found a moment of tranquillity amidst the otherwise dynamic life on Kamino. “You know, Orion this railing isn’t for me, I did not fall out a bunk for a while.” Hunter jokes. Understanding that this is Tech’s way of trying to introduce Orion to changes, which will come tenfold.
