Awww, you are too sweet, I'm so glad you've enjoyed The Denial-Verse 🥰 And I hope you enjoy this too!
Uncles?
"Your daughter is so sweet," whispered the waiter, smiling at Jee-Yun.
Evan and Tommy had last minute agreed to babysit Jee-Yun. Tommy had scheduled reservations at this restaurant he had an in at, and when he explained why he was canceling their reservation, the host had said, "Well, why don't you bring her? We can accommodate a three-year-old."
So.
That was how Tommy and Evan found themselves bringing Jee-Yun to a Michelin-star restaurant.
The wait staff adored her. Jee-Yun was adorably polite, if not a little spoiled by the staff bringing her an amuse-bouche of dinosaur chicken nuggets made just for her and lavished Jee with an array of whatever she wanted - chef's treat.
The whole restaurant wanting to spoil her was adorable.
She was adorable.
And Tommy was going to explain his actual ties to Jee, he really was, but Evan placed a hand on Tommy's as he said, "Oh, no. She's our niece. We have her for the night."
The waiter beamed.
"Well, she'll be spoiled by the time she gets back to her parents, then," the waiter said with a wink, walking away.
"Niece?" whispered Tommy.
"We are her uncles," said Evan softly.
"Uncles?" breathed Tommy; surprised and marveling at the idea, "Me too?"
Did he really count as one? Was that too much?
Evan smiled at Tommy, giving him a quick kiss.
"Yeah," whispered Evan, "Uncles."
