Trying out a custom font combined with handwritten sections to speed up my process! I think it look cute so far but needs another few tests. o(*￣▽￣*)ブ

I'm also so excited to finally introduce our favorite spooky little guy: carter!!! @kkachis and @ghostly-cabbage helped me design him and flesh out his story and role in this arc a whole YEAR ago. yeah, behind the scenes, that's how long this arc has taken to actually get on the road hahaha

Sam invites a ghost to the annual Manson Hanukkah party, because that's just what you do in Amity Park these days—especially when your new best friend is none other than local ghost hero, Phantom.

This installment of Undercover AU was drawn for the Danny Phantom Reality Trip Zine 2022!

It was so much fun to be part of this project, and to push my comic skills towards pages rather than strips, and to try out a splash of color. ....Even if I initially bit off way more than I could chew with the plot and page count, hahaha. This little Hanukkah story is one I wanted to tell about these kids since last year, and I think it worked out perfectly to create for the RT Zine.

Bonus: the kids in their fancy outfits! I originally wanted to do this comic in color because Danny's color inversion would've been really fun, but I'd already bitten off more than I could chew for the timeframe, so full color didn't make it. :")

Hi guys! Welcome back to Undercover AU. This arc picks up immediately after the Doppelgänger arc [Ao3] so you might want to refresh your memory on it! (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)

I think about the fact that a big issue post reveal for undercover au is obviously the lack of trust. And I think about Sam & Tucker feeling all bad about it, 50% ("it was probably mostly just trust issues Danny has") and 50% ("was there, something we could've done to show him he could trust us? Something we did that made him think he couldn't? ... Man...")

And so maybe one of them gently asks something along those lines later and Danny's just kinda like ("... I guess,,,, I just,,,,, didn't have a lot of experience,,, with trusting anyone...... All my life???? (Save for my sister?)

And now they're all crying because "man..." Fenton has had No friends, gotdamn.

Bonus, if Jazz knew the whole time: but then Sam is like "so you're sister knows?" And before she could say anything Jazz enters the room (she was listening through the door) like "yeah I knew the whole time" and Danny goes through a couple micro expression before settling on "younger sibling stink eye".

oooh, for the wip ask game: close call?

"close call" is a ucAU mini-arc that takes place after Sam and Tucker start to consider Fenton—and not just Phantom—their friend.

the idea is that they keep almost catching ghostly things happening with Fenton, and Danny keeps getting through those situations by the skin of his teeth ashjdgf

here is all that currently exists for this mini arc:

i originally sketched this up in september 2021 (a whole year ago? hello?) and I periodically return to it, because I really like it and really want to explore the early parts of ucAU more!

the reason it's languished in WIP World for so long are that i keep getting hung up on the page formatting, pacing, and what exactly happens next.

also, i was going for a more serious tone and wanted practice things i don't do enough of in comics (BGs, perspective, polish, etc) which is why it's a different format. i wound up doing a lot of that in the Full Moon comic instead because ultimately i think the concept for Close Call probably lends itself better to the usual comedic hijinks and stuff. and yet... i don't want to scrap this page entirely.

I'll probably return to Close Call when I'm ready to write it an actual script and reformat it into strips, or rework this page in a way i'm happy with :>
