Hi! I really appreciated your post advising people that the person who punched Richard Spencer was trained to face the risks of doing so. Right now I'm selling/giving away pins that say "Have you punched a Nazi today?" and I wanted to include a similar warning in with my product. Would you mind if I paraphrased your post somewhat? You said it very succinctly and I'd love to use it as a starting point.
You can, but be sure that it’s not like, implying training/preparation is military, exclusive, etc. I mean more like training unions used to give for demonstrations, preparation and legal protection many organizations spread as part of their available support materials etc.
The post became unexpectedly popular and there’s been a lot of confusion and assumed misinformation over AntiFa, Black Bloc as some kinds of ‘secret organizations’ or ‘elite groups’ that I don’t really want to spread further. They aren’t, but they still have standards and provide support and education to their members about how to behave, what to do, and what actions to take.
The post was more a take of mine that in the immediate wake of the Spencer Punching meme, many people weren’t aware that the person wasn’t just a random guy off the street who thought he was batman, but someone who due to his organization’s policies might have a little bit more protection from the thousands-dollar bounty now on his head.I would like to encourage people to support, join, etc. these groups or use the materials these groups provide to prepare themselves. Taking direct action is often less risky from within one of these groups-- I don’t want people to think, ‘oh, I’m not antifa, I won’t do anything, they can handle it, burden’s off me.’
